Elephant Hose Mod

Featured Replies

What kind of pipe is everyone using for this? I have been using some fuel pipe for mines but it's now became pourous and the oil is seeping through it rather than going through it so needless to say i need to replace it

I was thinking of some of the silicone hose stuff you can buy from halfords but not sure if it'd withstand the temperatures or not? Anyone able to advise or link me to some pipe that will do the job without going pourous?

Old washing machine waste pipe is what I've got.. :giggle: works well enough, I see steam coming out every now and then.. and I smell it too lol.

Hmm tbh that sorta hose looks like the one i have now

Thinking the washing machine idea might be better, my dad gets a discount at the local plumb store so might just go buy a hose on friday

Only other thing is i like the OEM look so hopefully be able to get a black one :)

Can't route it as neatly as the existing pipe mind you but needs must as it's actually dripping out above my steering rack now :S

I have done it on two cars !! Honestly it is perfect bud ;)

I have read of lose of boost with this mod so I took mine off :(

To scared to put it back on now :p although it figures its better for you engine etc...

Mines has had this mod done for 20k now and not noticed any difference in boost, oil consumption etc

So for me it's a must have mod, along with my egr delete pipe my intake manifold etc will be pretty clean. I got the car with 33k on the clock and it was de egr'd at 33,500 and elephant mod at 33,900 so actually just over 20k as i'm on 56k now

impossible..

Cheers mate, that looks a very similar material to the piping i have now, so thinking definately best off with the washing machine waste pipe

Thanks for the post though :)

6ft of 20mm heater hose...

The single easiest and best mod you can make :) Made mine soo much smoother and the anti stutter valve and egr is no longer getting caked in crap.

Used a washing machine waste pipe first off, but changed it for some larger bore black pond pump hose from the local aquatic centre.

Ok ok, its back on now :D:giggle:

Wise decision

We'll see! Don't wanna be losing no boost now! :o:D

Just been for a quick (15 mile) "rag" and there seems to be no lose of boost that I can report of :)

Infact she seems to be pulling harder and faster then ever! :) :)

Only thing was there was 0 oil around the bottom of my pipe when I got back - I presume it takes a while/ a few miles to works its way down? :)

Vapour sometimes turns back to oil, you may get this white smoke on occasions and sometimes smell... :giggle:
