PD150 Turbo

Featured Replies

If i was to get a pd150 turbo what parts are needed to run this?? do i need to change any pipes? do i need to get a front mount?

no you can use it as a direct replacement to your pd130 turbo!

all that needs done is it needs clocked (rotated)

easy peasy job, just remove bolts and rotate i believe....

a mechanic will do it no problem for you! makes sense to uprate ;)

all pipes fit its a like for like swap

you dont need an fmic, it will run at 130bhp all day long

christ back in the day my hybrid pd150 ran at 130bhp before it was mapped lol

well your pd130 turbo went boom did it not....

surely uprate while you have the chance to?

unless you want to replace again!

no idea but my turbo is turbo dynamics

i believe they also do a hybrid pd130 which is good for 195bhp which may suit you better as it will have quicker spool up time

only if you changed the map to add more power

The turbo and maybe the odd gasketor pipe. If you specify it's for a Fabia, maybe TD or whoever will clock it for you?

Ideally, you'd get the car mapped for the bigger turbo... More fuel/boost at higher revs. At that stage, consider fitting an intercooler and a decat. Then get it mapped to suit.

The real issue is likely to be the clutch. For best performance, uprate it. Not a cheap job, however.

There's about £100 in parts involved in changing over. All the gaskets and bolts add up :)

I've got the list of everything somewhere, from when I did it.

Depends what you're fitting this for - stock reliability or a good basis from which to modify?

I'm fitting as a upgrade but also with the intention of adding abit more power eventually. Ie a fmic and clutch.

Can anyone confirm whether it's the D or F on the part number above?

I have just dug out my invoice from Turbo Dynamics when I purchased my turbo.

The part number is 721021-5006S. That is the Garrett GT1749VB. That part number has superseded the previous numbers.

Also I certainly didn't buy £100 in nuts and bolts to fit it (pretty sure it came with the new bolts/gaskets etc), my mechanic just rotated the housing and on it went.

is it

038253016F

or

038253016D

Neither probably... :)

They are VW group's designations for the turbos and look older numbers than the "G" variant mentioned in your previous post. That is also superceded by 721021-5006S.

I wouldn't worry too much about the OEM numbers as long as you buy from a reputable source and tell them the model of car to which it is to be fitted.
