Greenline - is it any good?

Featured Replies

Hi, im not yet an owner of a superb but will be finalising my order of a company car in the next few days and at the moment its the top of my list, i test drove one today and that didnt lower it at all.

but i onlyhave the option of the 1.9 TDI S or 1.9TDI Greenline so from what ive read is the greenline is slightly better of the 2 but still below the others in the range, i test drove an SE as thats all they had available but did get a look around an S (no greenline in the showroom either) and other then a load of blank buttons near the gear knob it didnt seem to bad.

basically im 90% sure this is the car i will take as the other options are an elegance octavia or a high range megane (all diesel engines only) and the superb just seems in a different class.

as sad as it may seem my main concern is ive just read the thread that they are removing umbrellas but there was no mention of the greenline in the thread so will that be keeping it (mainly asking as it will be a company car so i wont have the option of negotiating one - and im not willing to buy one as i wont get my money back)

hope that makes sense basically all im asking for is anything special or lacking in the greenline (other then the 1.9 getting mixed reviews)

regards

gtanny

I have driven a Superb Combi S with the 105PD engine fitted and TBH i was pretty impressed with it - it's not quick by any stretch of the imagination, but it also does not disgrace itself IMO  the trim spec. is not bad at all either considering it's the entry level spec.

As of 25th March ALL Superb's have lost the umbrella as std equipment

As a Greenline owner of 7 months all I can say is it is Superb!!!

I had a Superb Mk1 PD130 before and whilst the Greenline is lower powered it is still a stunning car with exceptional fuel economy, (see my other posts) the road tax is cheap as well (£110 at current rates)

My only advice would be to get a spare wheel, mine was £110 which included tyre and plastic wheel well liner from my local dealer. (you can't order it as an option on the Greenline, so unless you have a friendly dealer that can order one at the cheaper 'option' price, you will need to order it as a spare part.

I promise, you won't be disapointed if you choose the Greenline - the boot spoiler is worth it alone!

I have had my greenline for nearly 4 weeks now, and I love it. It was pre built at the factory so could'nt order any extras. It did come with the brolly. I also ordered the spare wheel from the dealer as a spare part. So far according the computer I am getting 60.2 mpg total average. On some trips I have been getting 64-65 mpg.

gtanny,

Go for the Greenline, you will not be disappointed. I have been running a Superb II Greenline as a comapny car since late March 2010 and have found it absolutely fantastic.

I travel all over the UK on business and never find it wanting, perhaps not as quick (0-60) as other similar cars, but it will happily play in the outside lane of the motorway with the Audi's and BMW's.

One word of advise as already stated, get yourself a spare wheel. I had two punctures before I got my spare wheel and it was a nightmare waiting to be recovered, the bottle of tyre seal they provided with the car was absolutely useless.

Placed my order and i was informed today that they no longer supply the greenline as they are releasing a new version soon, then i was told i might not even be able to get the superb as the allowance only covers the 1.9 (must be a disel car) and they are replacing that with a 1.6.

so at the moment im in limbo but i spoke to our company car woman and she has a meeting with skoda on monday and she may be able to sort me out a car there but if not we do have a white 1.9 S superb currently on lease and available in the company, only the basic model and a white car working on a coal docks isnt ideal but i told her i would rarther have a basic superb then the other cars on offer (octavia or megane) and she seemed ok with it. she also said we have 2 black ones and a blue but she didnt know the models/engines of them so i might be able to talk a higher spec car out of her if i ask nice.

ill keep updated but i wont know anything till monday/tuesday.

That's interesting. If you look on Skoda's UK website the 1.9Tdi has been deleted, however, it is still shown in the brochure available to download.

I have a Superb 1.9Tdi and after 1.5 years and 50,700 miles I am very pleased. I imagine the common rail 1.6Tdi from the Golf/A3/Passat will be more economical, cleaner and quieter, but lose out slightly in the driveability department ie.. will require more revs than the characterful and dependable 1.9 Pumper.

I have a built in sat nav in my superb elegance 2.0 tdi, previous information needs to be deleted, no instruction manual, should i disconnect the battery ? The " Delete Destinations " isnt lit up to activate, any ideas ?

Try this, pinkfella:

Press on the function key "Memory" in the main menu Navigation and on "Edit Destination Memory" in the pop-up window.

While in the menu Maintain memory press the function key "Destination Memory Entries" to ensure that you will receive a list of all manually stored destinations

When in the pop-up window press the function key "Edit" and the menu Edit/store entry will open.

If you press "Delete" in the pop-up window, the destination is deleted after a further safety confirmation.

I was working today so i checked my work emails and found an email from our company car woman saying that skoda have accepted my order for a greenline, im presuming its the now deleted model which is fine by me (and will save me some tax over the S that i think would of been my next option).

ive never ordered a new car with the latest system but the meganes that the others have ordered have one due late this month and one next month and they were ordered late june time.

i might be lucky and if they have stopped production they may have one in a yard waiting for me but as my current car isnt officially due for a replacement until feb 11 im not going to complain (they want to get the order sorted before the VAT increase)

im looking forward to this now as there its always nice getting a new car.

cheers for the help guys/gals

My wife has ordered a superb greenline and got the call from dealer to say it has been confirmed..they are waiting for the transporter to collect and deliver and then its in the dealer workshop to be prepped up and then delivered. Incidentally, does anyone know if the old superb mk 1 spare wheel will fit the superb greenline? Basically the same diameter 16 inch steel wheel.....any help on this will be much appreciated

I think it probably would fit OK as the MKI uses ET37 on a 7" wide wheel and the MKII uses ET46 on a 7.5" wheel - meaning you will have 15mm MORE clearance on the inner arch but the wheel will stick out another 3mm, i can't see that being a problem.

Thanks for that info gizmo68...i was just trying to find out if the wheel would fit...as the greenline is 15ml lower than the other superbs....and it would save me shelling out on a spare as i dont want to buy a wheel as its a mobility car...i do have a skoda octavia L+K spare wheel with tyre on which has never been used...Seems a shame to not actually put it to good use. Last thing i want is to be stranded or my wife call me saying she has a flat!!, as i dont really trust the puncture repair kit, as i believe the stuff thats injected into the punctured tyre would render it un usable again...so i'm led to believe.

I got a superb Greenline 5 months ago & I Love it!!!

I'd say it's worth holding out for the new Greenline 1.6CR. - lower emissions - less income tax (if it 's a company car) and all from a better more modern engine.

The 1.6 engine is already tried and tested in the Octavia and many other VW/Audi group cars.

Just dont expect to be doing much overtaking on the country roads - your 40 - 70mph accelleration time will be in the dont even think about it region.

Be careful with these small eco diesel unit's, they maybe ok in a Golf sized car, but a Superb is a large car, and the average owner should be expected to put some weight in it, or he'd buy a small car, anyway, the problem is Peugeot have tried this with the 1.6 HDi engine, and the result is a new turbo every 20k.

Well i havent even driven the greenline past the 2500 rpm mark...and even in 5th gear on motorway its only ticking over at around 1800 revs....after all, a car as nice as the new superb is, its much nicer for the other drivers to actually see it and ask what model is that? . I had a fellow come up to me the other day and ask me how much the bmw was :giggle: ........much to his suprise he didnt know it was a skoda. He seemed pretty impressed.

As for the french peugeot, i can only think its turbocharger must be the size of a thimble....or its suffering from other issues.

Skoda are stopping production of the Greenline model.

Thats a shame...i personally like the greenline version and its ecconomy and the fact it sits between the s model and se model.!! maybe they might stop production of the 3.6 v6 soon as well....given the consuption figures the beast suggests, Strange really, when you think the superb greenline does almost double the mileage per tankfull...at leat one could actually say i can go twice as further than as fast :giggle:

Skoda are stopping production of the Greenline model.

So far as I know they are not stopping production of the greenline model - they have simply stopped production using the 1.9PD engine and are in late stage product testing of the 1.6 CR engine. -

This should be available to order soon.
