New Fabia Owner

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Picked up my new Fabia today! Swapped with a guy on here, he's had my '56 Octavia vRS TFSI - it was lovely but I couldn't afford to run it!

Anyway, the new tractor:

Looking forward to doing a few mods :)

Wow, love those seats!

Car looks stunning mate. Congrats and enjoy.

What you got planned for it? Is it me or those front lights look different some how?

Cheers, previous owner had them retrimmed in leather by Seat Surgeons. It's good because it sorts out the only thing I never really liked about the Fabia - those white cloth seats.

I don't think the lights are different? What makes you think they are?

Planning ARB and lowering to start - probably just Eibach springs or maybe coilovers, but I can't go too low as I need a bit of clearance to get down my road...

Then probably just a PD150 intake & safe remap that focuses on drivability rather than peak power.

And at some point along the lines, some 17" alloys from somewhere else in the VAG range (maybe Octy Spiders? Ibiza Cupras?) wrapped with some decent rubber

Not gonna go silly, just want to refine things a bit :D

Lush car mate, likin your plans too. Killer fabia, watch out!

Cracking looking car.

Loving those seats

Those lights definately do look slightly different. Are they tinted at all?

Looks good, how many miles? I'd consider putting on some Ibiza Cupra console bushes and 312mm brakes - really makes a difference

Not to my knowledge... I've not compared them side-by-side to another Fabia, but they look standard to me in the flesh...

Only 40k so not bad for a 55-plate. What do the console bushes do?

I have thought about brakes, but I'm a pretty forward-thinking driver and even when I'm having a blast up an A-road, I tend to be looking well ahead and slow down using the gears - so I can't see I'd get the benefit from up-rated brakes.

One thing I want to get checked out is that there is a bit of vibration sometimes through the car when sat at traffic lights. It's not excessive - but it is noticeable. This is my first diesel, and I know the PD's can be a bit agricultural - so is it a normal?

Those seats are the dog's, the cream inserts are very nice

There are a few threads on the console bushes - HERE and Here

I found on mine that there was more feeling to the steering and less of a floaty uncontrolled feeling on fast sweeping bends although that may have something to do with the Eibachs and Jabba ARB I put on..

Re the brakes I ran mine standard for a year and a half and did feel on a lot of occasions the brakes were lacking, literally you have to stand on the brake sometimes which doesn't inspire confidence.

Edited to add that the standard console bushes do fail early due to their construction as they have voids in them and can be an MOT failure. The Ibiza cupra ones are solid so should last a lot longer. There is a bit more cabin noise as a result but not too much to be a problem

Nice car love the seats ;)

And yes the lights are different from stock but only the fact that they have LED sidelights.

Nice! I'm another fan of those seats, I'd love to get them but £800 is a bit out of my range plus SWMBO would knock me out then kick me out I think!

I fitted Eibachs on standard shocks a while ago and looks are improved 100%, handling is better too IMO! Jabba ARB next me thinks...

Is £800 how much they are? Obviously they came with the car, but IMO worth every penny - the standard Labia vRS interior is probably the thing I like least about them, so to find one without was a big plus.

I fitted Eibach springs on their own to my Focus, and they did transform the handling even with standard shocks - plenty good enough for me. The impression I've got so far from here though is that just springs is a bad idea on Fabias as the standard ones aren't up to much?
