fabia 3 1.9 pd clutch slipping at 14000 miles

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have looked through the searches but can't find an answer to this. My wife has a 58 reg fabia 3 1.9 pd with only 14000 miles. Mostly when cold, when driving off in first gear the clutch slips and judders the car and then all is fine. I'm not at all mechanically minded so I don't know if this is a common problem. Can this be the clutch failing already and can we convince the dealer to sort it under warranty as it seems wrong for a clutch to fail at this point. Thanks all for any helpl :S

Your vehicle is covered under warranty for this type of problem. It sounds as if you have a contaminate leeching onto the clutch disc/flywheel that is causing the problem. This could be oil from a leaking seal at the gearbox or flywheel/crankshaft. It could also be engine coolant entering the bell housing from an external source. It's easy to fix and will be covered I'm sure. It isn't a common problem with this engine so don't worry. Please let us all know how you get on.

Thanks for that. I have had problems with dealers being difficult about such things in the past (although vauxhall and fiat ahem!) so hopefully skoda will be better with this. Cheers for the response though
