Squeal from from wheel

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I have a vRS with 40k on the clock. 07 model.

Travelling up to Hawick to see me Brother in law yesterday, I developed as intermittment squeal coming from (I believe) the front passenger side wheel. I can only describe it as an oily door hinge kind of sound. It would appear up to around 40mph and only when turning the wheel left by around 1cm.

I pulled over several times to see if something had got lodged in the brake pads and was scoring the discs, but nothing. I intitially thought it was the mud guard round the wheel arch come lose and catching. As stated, it came and went. I took the wheel off this afternoon and could find no apparent sign of wear or damge. CV boot intact. No scoring to discs. No grease at back of wheel.

Anyone any idea? I have it booked for a 40k service, but knowing what dealerships are like, I want to go in with my facts straight as I know they won't take me serious.

Thanks folks

More than likely pad glazing. A few hard stops usually clears it.

I have a very similar problem, although mine seems to do it even in a straight line. I have it from the o/s/f wheel and it seems to stop when i touch the brakes regardless of speed, and it's also intermittant, can go for miles without it. It's a bit like brake squeal but when the brakes are not on, the opposite way round if you know what I mean.... anyone any ideas? Sorry to hijack a thread but I thought it was similar.

Marc
