Fitting coilovers omg aggggrrrr

Featured Replies

Ok how much have people paid to have bloody coilovers fitted?? I'm semi admitting defeat! Unless someone comes up with a reasonable excuse or some help on the best approach to fitting these ****** things, spanners were flying n obscene gestures were in the mix tonight, it's like some bugger on the design team thought rite let's **** of the owners!! Grrrrrrî–

So advice or opinions are greatly welcome, preferably before I strap the damn things to the root n say they are fitted aggggggggrrrrrrrrrr

I used a hex bit from my socket set to split the hub ( cant remember if it was 6mm or 8mm )

Undo the pinch bolt first and remove it.

Put the bit in to the slot so that the flats are just snug - then turn it 30 degrees to part the hub and allow the strut to come out.

And the rears?? or I'm I missing something visually ??

Whats the problem with the rears?

Whip out the liner, undo the two top bolts and remove the one bolt at the bottom of the strut, jobs a good un.

Once you done it once mate, the job is a doddle.

As for the fronts... compress the spring, track rod nut, drop link nut, hub bolt , then wiggle the fecker like mad till shes nearly out, undo the three bolts on the top of the strut, and it should slide out easy.... In my experience I have never had to split the hub.

As above its easy

Took me and the Girlfriend 3 hours to do them all?

If you werent so far away i would say pop in all ill help you...

Bit of advice, when trying to get the shock out of the carrier, use lots of wd40... Then get the standard skoda jack and place between hub and bottom of spring housing on the shock

wind away and out she comes :)

+1 , you shouldnt have to split the hub ,

Not a vrs but this is all you should have to do ,

That pic is nothing like the hub arangement on a VRS

have a look at the bottom of the strut in the picture in the thread below - it is clamped by the hub that has been removed

Its all based on the same principal.
