This is very common on the PD engines and in moderation it can be ignored. It occurs mostly in engines with a high level of crankcase blowby and these are the engines which usually burn oil. When I was shopping for a Superb, I saw several examples with about 20k miles on the clock which were oily in this region, one (in Isleworth) was extremely oily. The dealer didn't give a damn/understand even though the oil reached the plastic engine cover.

I stuck out and bought a car elsewhere with a "dry" engine. For a PD, its oil consumption is very good - about 250 ml in 10k miles. It must have been thrashed when young to bed the rings on the factory fill of synthetic oil.

If your oil consumption is within reasonable limits, I'd ignore it but be aware that the inside of the intercooler will be very oily and that the EGR valve will coke up as a result of this. The VNT vanes will also be more prone to sticking due to the same cause. These are all maintenance issues to bear in mind - I don't generally like PDs which burn oil.

rotodiesel.

Clean the intercooler out of oil along with the EGR valve (or replace this) and the pipework and it will be fine.

The oil will be coming from the recyling of the exhaust gases mixed with the oily crankcase gases, which will mix and cause the EGR to gum up and fail.

;thanks for the fast replies, i didnt mention my car has 132k kms. so these spills aren't from turbo damage? it consumes the rest of oil of 5 litre tube useed for the change (each 15k kms) i use 5w 40. what chemicals to use to clean intercooler ? it

Does your oil meet the VW standard for your engine?

In terms of the oil useage, that means you're using about 0.5L every 15,000 km, which isn't all that bad.

There is a guide somewhere on a VW site for cleaning it through, but even if you just pour the oil out, that will be a huge start.

This is a funny one, I bought a car with 50k on it, and it was caked, Skoda paid for a new unit, and 50+ k later it was clean as.
