Hi guys, just about to buy a 2007 1.9tdi elegance; great condition 75k miles. Just noted that in the service book, it states that the cambelt doesnt need changing until 120,000 miles. Seems excessively high. Is this correct?? This will be my first Octavia, and I'm sure it is right and the build quality is high. Just, that I've had cars that need the change around 60k.

2007??? is it an ex taxi? are you sure its a mk1? audi say 120K too but VW say for the same parts 60K they came out originally saying 120K but then reduced it to something then down again iirc to 60K, just for piece of mind mate ide get it done.

The service interval has been changed to 60k miles (or 3 years, iirc). My 2001 110TDi is fast approaching her 3rd change (180k)

When changing it is worth changing the water pump too
