Things that can cause front end "loose" feeling

Featured Replies

Just wondering what maybe needs replacing at the front of my car as it has totally lost that usual planted feel at speed. Feels like the front end is just floating about and the steering doesn't really do anything.

I am on the cae of ruling out dodgy suspension as I am getting my (old) KW V1s rebuilt stiffer, which would cure it if a damper was blown maybe?

I already have cupra bushes up front so expect they are not to blame.

Maybe the top mounts need replacing? Do they suffer over time?

Nothing else immediately springs to mind.

silly things like tyre pressure or wheel nuts loose?

top mounts would probably "soften" due to age/condition/stress etc

You've probably checked them anyway though, Jason ;)

Recently changed the anti roll bar drop links, couldnt believe the difference, it just seemed to "tighten" everything up. Might be worth a look.

Yeah, forgot about the ARB - Its probably on original bushes of 150,000+ miles. :) It went through MOT fine only 3 months ago, so whatever it is is clearly not enough for MOT failure but enough for me to feel disconcerted above 100 (km/h ;))

Funny you started this thread Jason, as I am getting the same feeling at the moment. Only thing is all the bushes and ARB have been done on my car.

I can only presume its the tyres as they are on the wear limiters now and need changing. Also getting a vibration through the wheel between 90-110 as I found out on my last track session :S

I'll let you know if I find anything else dodgy!
