Where can I buy a double DIN housing?

Featured Replies

In the new year I intend to buy one of these for my car PC install.

What I'm thinking of doing if I can find one is fitting the screen into a double DIN housing then slotting it into the dash, rather than trying to build the screen into the dash itself.

The question is, where can I get one? Maybe somewhere that sells spares for head units?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

And maybe the same people, but does anyone (VAG?) do a DIN sized tray that will lock in the *top* half of our double space?

(my dension is too deep to go at the top, has to sit at the bottom)

do you a cheap deal on pion dvd ?

IIRC, you can get a double DIN from Bluespot and I think vagparts does one fromthe GOlf as well.

Yup the lillyputs fit that space but only just.

Might be as well getting a lillyput screen for 200usd and taking it apart / find a dead one to experiment on.

I was going to go for the dbl din install, I might yet, the good thing is is, if you do go for a in dash fitting, you don't actually need a din bracket/system...just make one up / box to fit the space with a catch/release beveled edge.

You could then build a little bit of inclination into the unit to make the screen use a bit easier/ took away. The depth on the screen is nothing so I was actually thining about having it slide way back then just slide it out, not that hard to do + a bit of angle looked great, but I never got past the unscrewing the screen...

If you just mean a cubby hole like the standard one but for the top slot then I think one from a Golf should do the Job. Usually a few floating round in the classifieds on http://uk-mkivs.net

I'm all confused now! According to my measurements the Lilliput screen in its case will not fit in the hole without modifying something. I hadn't though of dismantling one to be honest.

I want it to look built-in when its done, hence the above screen.

Does the Lilliput turn itself off when the PC goes off? Can I get way with covering up its buttons?

Cheers
