Has it been remapped?

Featured Replies

Just wondering, is there a way to tell whether a VRS has been remapped??? I've compared mine to a friends who's is standard and they feel the same. Mine has been fitted with a PD 160 intake(previous owner), which I gather is usually done at the same time as a remap or filter change (it has a standard filter).

cheers

You answered your own question. If it feels the same as your friends who's is standard then, no, it's not got a remap.

It's possible that it has had a remap in the past, but the map has been removed however.

It is possible for a tuner to see if it is remapped now, but not if it has been in the past. We'd check that for you FOC but I'm unsure of your location.

The only true way is to put it on a Rolling Road to what power it has got.

The only true way is to look at the ECU code and see if it's running a standard map...

^ Here here..

Especially if some tuners have left their demo software in there :)

RR results and ECU scans aside, you can get a good feel by seeing whether it pulls strongly right up to the redline. If it's in standard tune, it will run out of puff around 3-3.5k (or mine used to, at least...)

Before they got ridiculously expensive, PD160 intakes used to be a popular mod even on standard cars.

Yep, seems to run out of puff at about 3500 so I'm guessing it's standard. Cheers
