Problems replacing stream mp3 radio under warranty

Featured Replies

Hi, this is my first post and hopefully someone can offer some help.

I bought my 57 plate octavia vrs in january of this year, when viewing the car I noticed part of the display on the headunit wasnt working properly. It was just like a single strip of the pixels was blank across the length of the display. No real hardship, but asked to get it replaced under warranty anyway. It took forever to arrive, almost 7 months lol. I didnt really push for it because my unit still worked fine, it was just the faulty pixels. Anyway, I was told by the dealer that skoda have had problems with the stream mp3 headunit and have informed dealers to replace it with the 'dance' unit and new facia due to the dance model is smaller.

On getting home I've discovered that i can no longer use my ipod through the AUX port, it cant play mp3 discs, also I have no time on the display, nor outside temperature. There is no options in the menu to switch these on. Im annoyed that Ive lost these features and have contacted the dealer and skoda customer services, I feel a faulty product should be changed like for like, whereas I have effectively had a downgrade. They cant offer any solution to me, I cant get another stream stereo (dont actually want one if they appear to be faulty), and they seem unable to offer an alternative.

Has anyone had similar issues? Is there another unit that can be used instead that will allow me to use my ipod? I dont think units from the FL octavia fits. The guy I delt with at the dealers has been pretty good, he's going to give me my old unit and facial so i can re-install it if i so choose and I'll have the crappy dance one as a back up.

Im rambling lol. Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

cheers.

take it back, you've been downgraded. Id be kicking a fuss up. You dont pay for a high spec car just have to have it downgraded when it goes wrong

In similar situ at the mo, my Stream's been taken in to sort a fault. Got an uneasy feeling they'll end up replacing it with a Dance.

If it came to it, I'm sure you wouldn't have too much trouble sourcing a Stream on here pretty cheaply, as there's plenty of folk who have upgraded.

Thanks for the replies

Im going to see them tomorrow to see if they can sort something else out. Id love a sat nav unit, but the parts guy was saying they're about £1700!? I thought I'd heard of people getting them off ebay for about £300-400? God knows.

Worse case scenario, I'll get them to fit my stream stereo back in for now. The dance unit is pretty basic.

Thanks again.

I have the Octavia with the Stream Mp3 unit which supports the AUX socket and the Wife has a Fabia Blueline with the Dance head unit, which also has an AUX socket.

Does it? oh well, lol. I didnt think it did. Have you tried the aux port?

  • 1 month later...

The dealer should now have the software update to enable the aux socket etc. Mine has just been done.
