was thinking of getting a cheep VW 2.3 V5 , Any one have advice or impressions of this engine , how is it for problems and or service . Thanks

Talking to a mechanic mate of mine a while ago when my parents were looking at Golfs - he said to advoid the 5 cylinder models, can't remember what grounds or how unfounded or otherwise his advice was though. Think it was realiabilty, but not 100%.

Only thing with the V5 that i know is that they are quite abit thirstier that 1.8T
