im going to service me car myself

was just wondering what all your opinions are on what oil i should use?

if im correct the grade is 5W-40 but does it matter what make i use or whether its semi-synthetic or just synthetic or if that matters and why?

should be 5w-30 on a pd 170 shouldnt it? Just check the pack to see if its VW 507 compliant. theres another one that works too but cant remember it just now.
