Fabia/Polo/A1

Featured Replies

I have just had a look at the new Audi A1 - a possible (but expensive) VW group alternative to the Fabia. It was left hand drive. No right hand drives will be available for 3 months. Inside, it is immaculate and oozes quality. However, it is only available with 3 doors. In the back, although the leg room is good, there is not enough headroom. I had to tilt my head to one side. It is impossible as a 4-seater. The Polo is better for rear headroom - but the Fabia is by far the best. The fittings inside the Audi are very substantial - door handles, controls, cloth etc. The Polo is good - but the Fabia is worst (particularly the door handles). I also had a look at the VRS today. It was not bad inside. I liked the controls and the steering wheel - but would have preferred a leather option.

The basic price of this Audi (a 105hp diesel) was about £15,300, but it had options costing £7,700 - thus a £23K car! The price of the Polo is better, but I don't think it is worth it. The rear headroom would not be enough for some people. The Fabia would be the best option for me if my Mk1 2.0i were to expire. At the moment, I see no reason to change.

I have had 1 Polo and now on my 2nd Fabia, that should tell you something.

I've had two Fabias and now have an Ibiza, that tells you something ;)

Same platform as Fabia 2, Polo and A1.

I did look at the Ibiza but the boot was too small.

That Ibiza 'Good Stuff' edition isnt a bad looking car for the money.

ST version has just been launched, FR and Boca spec coming up iirc inc 2.0 CR.

ibiza looks a bit cheap / chav to me :/

The Seat ST has a stupidly raked rear hatch so you cant get as much stuff in as you can a Fabia Estate, so Ill stick with Skoda  IMHO the A1 is ridiculous, its not pretty and is vastly overpriced for what is just a Polo with bling.
