This now (link inside) or a new FL Elegance next year

Featured Replies

Hi all

Im on the lookout for a new car and I would like it to be VAG , Skoda or at least German! Ive seen this on the web http://www.skoda.net.r66.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=601048200 , Fabia 3 TDI nearly new. The other option I have is ordering a new FL Fabia 105 TSI Elegance at the end of this year (to get the VAT free offer) to my Spec , and delivery for the new 11 reg. So what would you do if you had this choice? (I have to say Im looking at other cars too (Fabia vRS SE , Octy II vRS , Octy II 1.8TSI L&K , Octy II TDI , or even keep what ive got!!) , just kind of narrowing down my options at the moment) Your thoughts would be welcome!

Go for something quick... I'd get the Fabia vRS SE ;)

Hi,

thought the extended VAT offer was for cars registered by the end of the year not ordered :wonder: but if it were my choice then I would go for the FL over the original Fabia II.

Obviously my alternative would be a Yeti which I think is a much better drive than my previous Golf V 4motion and Octavia II Sport TDI before that.

Regards,

TP

You have a point , it IS delivered , which is a bit of a pain as (I dont know if its just me) I dont really like to buy a car in the winter time , Id rather have something new in spring/summer so you can enjoy it in the light nights and (hopefully) good weather! Hmm...I will have to price them up again as my budget is £12K max , a FL Elegance with the VAT @ 20% may be beyond my reach.

I wouldnt mind one , however Im very fussy so it would have to be a one owner car from a Skoda dealer and with 40K or less on the clock. Also there are never more than 5 or 6 for sale at any one time in the whole country , and most of them are at least 200 miles away. I would travel for the right car though , as long as the price was realistic (ie under £10k).

fabia vrs se but the newest one is probably about 3 years old.

I dont mind that , as my current Fabia is a ten year old V reg. - even a 56 plate Octavia/Fabia/whatever would be a decent upgrade to the MPI.

but driving a new car with full warranty just doesn't quite feel the same as driving a second hand car

Thats true , however I cannot strech to the new vRS so if I want a Fabia vRS it will have to be second hand.

tbh i wouldn't go for a fabia vrs se unless the price is right. i've seen 07 reg advertised for about £10k that's octavaia II vrs money for similar age. i know which i'd prefer.

back on topic, if you can wait i'd go for a new car but if a good deal comes along...

Dmac, I think you will love that 59 plate 1.9TDI. It look lovely. Power from those things is superlative and the economy will blow your current motor into the weeds. Don't forget, the PD's are totally trustworth and indestructable however you drive them. You can get 500,000 miles out of one before you need to spanner it in any major way. And that's a fact, I've seen many of these engines with even more mile on the clock, mostly in Octy's that have been taxis!

White is one of my favourite car colours as well - thats why I spotted it in the first place!
