2006 VRS tdi cambelt replacement

Featured Replies

[sizeHi - I have a 2006 Octavia VRS tdi which is coming up (next month) for it's 4th year servicing. I've only got 32k on the clock and the car hasn't been driven hard. My local service garage has told me I need a new cambelt at £434. Is it correct that I need a new cambelt after such low mileage or am I being conned? Any help much appreciated . Many thanks. ="3"][/size]

Yes I'd replace it. Imagine how much the bill for a new engine will be if the belt snaps.

Skoda (and VWAG overall) officially advise the change at 4 years now, regardless of mileage (unless it's already hit 74k obv.)

There's dozens of threads on this in the main Octavia II sub-forum: http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/28-skoda-octavia-ii/

Just do a search for cambelt in the Search box at the bottom of the page.
