Driver's door switch broken

Featured Replies

My first post so be gentle :)

Basically the door doesn't know when it's been opened so the courtesy light does not come on, and I think it is causing problems with the alarm causing it to go off after I have got out.

What's the cheapest way to repair/replace this part?

Thanks, Rob

Fault will either be comfort control module, or the lock sensor which is part of the lock assembly. Code scan may tell you which component is at fault.

I have a duff switch in my driver's door lock too, same symptons (apart from the alarm as I don't have one). I was quoted £80 for a new lock and I'd assume it'd be about the same on top in labour to replace as the door card has to come off and the window taken out to get to it. Every other car I've had the switch was separate and simple to replace :S

Maybe possible door ( spring-loaded )switch button that detects door is open emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif ?? (and not the lock at all)

Doesn't use a pin switch, it's all in the lock assembly.

VAG-COM has confirmed it's the switch. Is there any way to repair it? I've heard it can be due to defective soldering.

It may well be bad solder on the control unit in the drivers door.

I've looked at guides and its a hell of a job to get to! Guess I'll have to put a day aside for it. Thanks for your help will let you know how it goes!
