potholes(new alloy required)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've done a search but can't find what I'm looking for.

I require a new alloy for 2009 specal edition vrs 170 cr (pot hole).

Chatthams edinburgh £220. Any one know where I can pick up one a wee bit cheaper.

Any one know the name of that particular design?

TIA

Lindsay

I would photograph the Pot Hole and your Wheel and have a trip to your Local Highways Dept to see if they'll pay for a new wheel.

It's there Pot Hole.

That will only work if they have had a complaint about the pot hole before and haven’t taken action to make you aware it is there or repaired it.

Put in a claim anyway, it will go to the council’s insurance company who will investigate but fundamentally if they are unaware of the problem they are not liable.

Yep, try a council claim. Also, there was a thread on here not so long back about the 'delicate' nature of the LE wheels and attempts to get Skoda to rectify/compensate, so if anyone involved with that could update on the progress of that it would be useful (but report your problem to the dealer now anyway on the basis that you have heard that the wheels have known problems).

Finally, if all that fails, I think you have 2 main options. First, you can either look to replace all 4 wheels to something a bit more suited to UK roads. Or a cheaper option would be to check with a number of specialist alloy wheel refurbishers - you will be be surprised what some of them can do to get a buckled or dented wheel right again, complete with a new outer alloy coating, and the cost should be a lot less than a new wheel (less than £100 typically I think, in some cases a lot less depending on what they need to do).

i would strongly advise against getting an alloy wheel thats been buckled repaired as the wheel has been structurally compromised and repairing it may mask any internal flaws or cracks until something similar happens again it fails dramatically.

I believe the LE uses a Team Dynamics wheel which should be available from other sources, possibly cheaper than a dealer.

As discussed by more knowledgeable people than me, here.

i have brought one from my local dealer and it was about £130 the standard vrs wheels is about £180 so that tells you a lot about the quality of the limited edition wheel
