Bored of Waiting for my VRS

Featured Replies

I ordered my Octavia way back in April 2010, and despite explaining to the dealer that I needed the car as soon as possible due to having to use hire cars at the moment, I ended up with a build date of 26th July. Ok I excepted the weak excuse that all the cars on the system were ordered for customers, and took the wait on the chin.................so now its apparently been built but they are unwilling to confirm this or when it will be shipped, let alone when it will be at the dealer. So I still wait, having to hire cars until it eventually arrives.

To make matters worse, they promised they would look at trying to get me a loan car over August to cut down my costs, but now, suprise, suprise they and Skoda dont have any cars available!

I know we are all having to wait, but the service from the dealer has been shocking, after I ordered it they havent been interested in keeping me informed, and still dont seem to be bothered despite it (hopefully) being weeks away from delivery.

Firstly the car better be good, because, to be honest I am not particularly bothered about it now, secondly I WILL NOT be having the car serviced with them, I do over 30K a year, and this will be going to another dealer!

Its very dissapointing in this current climate where cars arent flying out of the doors that customer service is poor, especially when this dealer is supposed to be good at it................I live in Sheffield by the way!

Oh no ... thats not a great start is it!

I had a similar problem in 2004 when I ordered my first Mark II Octavia ... the dealership had literally no idea when it would be delivered, then all of a sudden I got the "are you coming to pick this car up today, or what?" phone call!!!

At least when you eventually receive the car you know you're gonna love it!

Wow that's terrible service and service I would not put up with personally, if it was me I would be camped in the show room until I had some sort of answer/resolve to your problem. Get hard and fast sit in the showroom all day complain everytime a customer or potential customer comes in........ become a pain, become a big pain in the A*se.

Not great to hear.... :(

But, a minor correction you say sales are slow but in Epsom we've sold more cars month on month than any year previously. Maybe things are different in Sheffield.

I really wouldn't go in guns blazing, it'll do you no favours what so ever.

Have you got much of a relationship with the salesperson? I'd turn up at the showroom when you know they are working and be polite as you can put also make it clear that you aren't happy. Any self-respecting salesperson will feel pretty bad about you having to complain and I hope would make an effort to rectify the situation asap, and they won't want to involve management if possible so you might find things get done quickly for you.

You'll love your new vRS when it arrives though!

During my 11 week "waiting" time I only ever heard from my salesperson after I'd e-mailed him for an update.

In response to the OP it was simply because he'd sold so many cars he was having difficulty keeping up and didn't have time to update every customer at every stage in their order and build process!

If any thing is to go by with house not selling, people being made redundant and jobs being like hens teeth, I would have though car sales will be slow up here in South Yorkshire. My office is in Cheam, so I should have come down to Epsom and ordered my car!

The Salesman, or Business Manager as he is titled, fobs me off every time I go in, to the point I felt there was no point going in! I once went in and he made me wait whilst he made comments about me to his colleagues, he must think I was stupid but I can see through glass partitioned office walls!!

I was actually thinking of cancelling the order and going for a Seat Exeo as they can get what I want fairly quickly and I know the dealer having previously have a Leon Cupra from them.

If you don't feel you are getting anywhere with the dealer, have you 'aired' your thoughts with Skoda Customer Services?

Might be worth a phone call before you get really fed-up with the whole experience although it really shouldn't have to come to that but sometimes it does.

If you can stick with the Skoda vRS it's a fantastic car and it'll hold it's value better than the Exeo I expect but both are great cars.

Yes Cheam it literally a stones throw away since our showroom is close to Ewell than Epsom even though it's an Epsom postcode, infact 2 roads along it goes to a southwest London postcode.

If you're down here and I can help by all means pop in.

My dealer (MK) has emailed me around about 5 times, last email to tell me the car is on its way and he will be in contact soon to arrange the insurance cover etc etc . very poor service hope you get it sorted.
