Alarm Issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

Locked my car this evening and the bleeps didn't sound like they normally do. When I checked the red light, it was on continuously, but the car was locked.

I have had a look in the manual but can't seem to find any info as to what may have happened?

Any idea guys?

Cheers

Sorry to be a pain. Am I right to presume this hasn't happened to anyone here before? It's really puzzling me.

The car is over 4 years old, I have owned it from new and this is the first time it's happened to me.

Check that ALL the doors, bonnet and boot are closed properly and not on the first latch as this will stop the beep. When you've closed (or think you've closed) all the doors, etc. look through drivers window at the dash indicator to see if any are not fully closed. This can also cause the alarm to go off.

As above check all doors boot and bonnet as any one of these could stop the beeps, however a faulty siren could also be the cause of your problem, sit in the car lock and arm .......wave your arms about after approx 30 seconds see if the alarm goes off if it does the siren can be eliminated, then it maybe the doors, there are posts here about a leaky rear washer getting into the boot locking wiring and causing corrosion and the associated problems with high resistance joints.....
