HELP ! 1.8Tsi Maxidot Oil Warning

Featured Replies

I'm on hols in North Wales and due to drive back to Sheffield in the morning. We were just on the way back to the Cottage we're staying in and I had a Maxidot warning about oil.

We were driving just above walking speed in traffic. Unfortunatley I was in such a panic to find a place to stop I cant remember what the symbol was like.

The warning was amber with a symbol and an audible alert and said Oil . It also said max 4000 or something similar. It didnt stay on.

I pulled over and had a look in the Handbook but could find nothing that looked like the warning symbol or anything that refered to staying under 4000rpm.

In the 2 miles from the warning back to the Cottage the warning did not repeat.

Of course I'm now worried about the journay back !

Anyone else know what it is ? Do I need to find a dealer in the morning ?

Cheers

Just to add the oil level is fine.

OK Found the error on page 25 of the manual.

Yellow symbol

'Problem with engine oil pressure'

'It is also important to have the vehicle inspected without delay by a specialist garage. The imformation about maximum permissible engine speed is displayed together with this symbol.

FFS I'm in North Wales. I have to go home tomorrow and it's a Saturday so all the service depts will be closed.

Any suggestions ?

Ahhhh !! Typical. Skoda Dealer only 3 miles from us but Service is closed on Saturday. Another one about 30 miles away thats open until 12:30.

At least Rainworth Service are open in the morning. I'll call them for advice.

Just spent 2 hours Google'ing and not found anyone else who has had the warning message.

Just been out to car and started her up. No warnings but then it's cooled down.

If the message appeared briefly and has not come on since then you'll be fine.

Take your time travelling home tomorrow and book it in to be looked at next week

Cheers. Yeah it came on and bonged then went off after it had scared the crap out of me. Cars just done 850 miles. Is it normal for it to alert once then go off ? Does this mean it detected a dip in pressure then the pressure normalised ?

Update... Waiting for Skoda Assist. They are about 100 miles away so eta is about 2hrs.

If he gives us the green light then at least we have it in writing otherwise the car will have to be recovered.

850 miles and 1 month old. Hope this is not a sign of things to come .....

I'll post another update when we get home.

Further update for anyone interested. Rac have called and recommended recovery so were not waiting for a ride home. Should be here in about an hour....

Check Oil level, could be slightly low giving the light.

Back home now with car safely on drive. Oil level is fine. Their has been no alert while the car was loaded onto and off the low loader.

Going to give it a good clean Sunday and book it in on Monday morning :-)

Skoda Assist have been superb
