Yeti S

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I found this forum weeks ago but kept to reading threads until my build came closer.

My Yeti S without sunroof was ordered on the 21st June 2010 and was told to expect a 10 - 12 week wait.

When waiting for something you really want seems to take double the time, well it does for myself.

Anyway, I`ve been told that my build date is tomorrow the 16th August 2010 and will take 7 - 10 days for delivery.

The build takes 2 days, so it should be built by Tuesday evening 17th August 2010.

I then have to wait to be told from my dealer when it`s being shipped, after reading many threads on here I recon it will be Friday 22nd August 2010, and have my Yeti mid week following that Friday.

I just so happy that all of this waiting is about to end, and be one of the first in my area to show it off and enjoy the drive, not only this... but because I`m disabled I`ve always either had to use busses or taxi`s which are both painful to use and can cost alot of money.

One of the main reason for having the Yeti is the overall visability all around the car, and not having to feel cramped when sitting.

I was wondering with it now being so close if there was anything I should watch out for or double check when I get my Yeti?

The last thing I need is to get stranded somewhere because of a loose nut lol

Thanks for reading :)

Regards

Dean

Hi Dean, welcome to the group.

All you need to do now is keep on your dealers back with regular updates as I doubt he will call you....mine doesn't very much, but he has emailed me before.

Don't worry about being stranded due to loose nuts as the Yeti comes with FREE RAC membership for 3 years, I think it's 3 years.

Hope you have a short wait.

Hi Dean

Sit tight, the wait will be worth it. The Yeti is a great piece of kit and this is a great forum.

JEdi and John, thanks for a speedy welcome :)

Thanks also for your comments, I`m on good terms with my dealer but I do seem to be the one that calls him, I joke that pigs will fly when he says that he`ll call me... so I make sure I do.

Dean

Hi lee67,

I can`t wait, thanks for the info.

My dealer sees to think that it will be here next week as he offered me the new number plate that starts next month, but as I said to him... "I just want the car now, I`m not bothered about a change in a number plate", and I`m not willing to have the car at the dealers waiting on a plate.

I`ll keep you upto date.

Hi,

normally takes just a few short hours to put a vehicle like the Yeti together, so depending when they start it could be built in the same day. From personal experience I would think your dealer is right to allocate the new style number as two weeks (10 working days) from Factory to dealer is the usual minimum time it takes. Add on a couple of days to PDI etc. then your at 1st. September :) (mine was three weeks exactly from build to dealer, collected two days later).

Enjoy the new Monster,

Regards,

TP

evilkisses - I picked up mine last Friday after waiting since 7th May. Like you I just wanted the car, wasn't too fussed about waiting another few weeks just to get the new plate on Sept 1st.

Result? Fantastic! Had a good run out at the weekend, no loose nuts or niggles at all (apart from working out how to turn off the daytime running lights). Just a loose stone the size of my fist which got kicked up on the A1 and bounced straight at the windscreen - then bounced off again without leaving a mark.

Enjoy your Monster!

Thanks TP, I guess if it takes as long as you say then I`ll end up with the new plate anyway :)

Hey Jambo, you were lucky with the windscreen, it could of been very nasty.

I`ve just spoken to one of my dealers and he has just checked, it`s still in the factor and says that because of the holidays they are backed up, and because of this are getting the cars out fast to catch up.

He said that once out of the factor it could be with him within 2-3 days.

I`m going to wait and work on the 7-10 days once out.

I can`t wait to drive the little Monster

I`ve just had a phone call from my Dealer and my new bouncing baby arrived at Grimsby on Friday, and he said I should have it this week. We got talking and after calling me a Yeti Anerack lol he told me that I`m lucky to be getting it now, he has 25 orders for Yeti`s and anyone now ordering has a 4 month wait as Skoda didn`t expect such a welcome to the Yeti and the latest awards have helped too.

He will be phoning again when it`s on the way... oh and said that he`ll spend an hour with me going through everything when he delivers it :)

Well guys.... my Yeti is on the way to the dealers today and after all the paper work has been done, it`s going to be delivered on Friday.

I`m a happy dude :)

Can't you wait until Wednesday for a 60 plate?

emoticon-0145-shake.gif Shaking my head in disbelief as well!!! You will have a new car for all of a few days!

I suspect that, to Dean, those few days represent a huge freedom since he's had to rely on taxis and the bus for so long.

Dean - enjoy that freedom and space and lack of anything claustrophobic in your Yeti - after all it is the owning and driving that counts.

Well done. Let us know how he goes when he's delivered.

I can understand the urgency to get behind the wheel but the 60 plate will be worth more at resale time. Why throw £3-400 away just for a few days.....

I agree shrub.......................................WAIT FOR THE '60' PLATE :D

My wife's current car was registered three days before the turn of the year so we lost out a little bit on the P/X value as it's registered in 2006 not 2007 :S We bought it via the internet and this was the only opportunity to collect over the Christmas break from the supplying dealers 'down south'.

Would if at all possible wait for the 1st Sept but obviously appreciate like with us this might not be an option.

Anyway enjoy your new beast,

TP

we all have different priorities in life - and what suits one may not suit a second......... and I think we need to respect that.

I understand what you`re saying peeps, but as Freshacre says, I want the freedom to get out.

I`m hiring my new Yeti for 3 years, then I`ll have another new car for another 3 years under the mobility scheme.

Even if I was in the position of being able to buy the Yeti, I would of still wanted it asap... numbers on a plate make no difference to me, they`re a car owners statement of look here I`m upto date and looking cool lol

For MANY years now I`ve had to put up with being in extreme pain waiting at bus stops, travelling in taxi`s and taking every single road bump and hump which to most people wouldn`t matter, but because of my spine... I feel everything.

Now it makes total sense to me!!! Apologies for being so ignorant in what I said... You must be the most excited Yeti owner of all of us! Good luck tomorrow! Freedom is an amazing thing! Enjoy getting it back.

Hi Dean!

Has your YETI arrived yet?

Have you stopped grinning yet?

Do let us know how it all goes, what happens and everything about it, will you?

Thinking of you... ....... ... ... ......

Hehe For 4*4 forever,

I`ve just been cutting and making rubber car mats that I bought, I must say they look very good now :)

I next have to install a car seat for my Grandchild, which is on my to do list as soon as I can be bothered :D

I need pinching... it still feels as if I`m dreaming that it`s finally here.

I will be going through the manual later tonight.

The radio/cd player is great!!!!!

  • Author

It`s been days sinse posting, but I`ve been in my Yeti and enjoying it each and everytime :)

My Son love it, he`s always after going out in to and just loves the CD/Radio player, which has traffic news cut in, so when say listening to a CD, when any traffic news is about to be announced, it fades the CD out and goes to the live news feed, then returns back afterwards... nice.

The gears are very close and at times I have to double check that I`m in the correct one, but it`s now easier as I`ve spotted the digital gear counter display, it`s only taken me a week lol

It was doing my head in having to press the button at the middle console to open all doors, my dealer told me today to double click the remote for unlocking.... gawd I should really read the manual more lol

Overall, I`m dead happy with it and would highly recommend a Yeti to anyone.
