Options that can be enabled

Featured Replies

I can't seem to find a definitive list of options that can be enabled on the fabia, so far, I am aware of:

Automatic looking when driving off

Unlocking drivers door first, then the rest of the car

Illuminating left, right or both rear fog lights

Please add any other options that can be turned on an off on here...

ddnt alise you could do any of those... emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

via vag-com i assume?

From reading on here:

The locking 'plip'

The level of PAS

A how-to and function of what it does would be good too..!

I know what you mean! as i always see these for the Octy boys, never anything on the Furby :smirk:

So a list of what you can VagCom on? (add to the list)

- Anti Car jack - All doors lock when the car goes over 10kph (iirc)

- 2 Touch unlock - One press of the unlock key unlocks drivers door, 2 does all

- Fog light choice - 1 Foglight ,2 Foglights

- PAS level change - Change the PAS level 1-5

- Alarm 'Blip' - Makes the Bleep loud when you lock the car

- Fog light choice - 1 Foglight ,2 Foglights

That can't be done on the Mk1 Fabia via VAG-COM, unless you run a wire from one fog light to the other

If we can 'quote' and edit the list will keep things tidy?

- 2 Touch unlock - One press of the unlock key unlocks drivers door, 2 does all

- Turn down and almost disable EGR

There's also settings for tear wiping, comfort flashes (indicator) etc..

Will have a look and post results..

Tear wiping?

I think its the extra sweep when you use the screen wash, a couple of seconds after the last sweep it does an extra one to get those last drips. got it.

One touch indicators

 Keep'em coming!

Next we'll discuss on who can do it for beer money..!

One touch indicators

Depends upon the car IIRC. Only on later ones with the right stalks.

My 2007 car came with a 05.2005 dated handbook - plus a handbook supplement noting 05.2006 changes. It says "Automatic wipe/wash for windscreen - The post-wipe function for "the last drops" is deactivated. Your Škoda Dealer can activate this function". In other words the default was on until that date and off subsequently. I'm pondering whether or not to get them to turn it back on...

The downloadable 50.2007 handbook notes: "The post-wipe function of the windscreen can be activated by a specialist garage. The post-wipe function enables 5 seconds after the last wiper stroke another wiper stroke, in order to wipe the last drops off the windscreen". Interesting the use of the word "specialist" rather than "dealer"...

So are we up to:

- Anti Car jack - All doors lock when the car goes over 10kph (iirc)

- 2 Touch unlock - One press of the unlock key unlocks drivers door, 2 does all

- PAS level change - Change the PAS level 1-5

- Alarm 'Blip' - Makes the Bleep loud when you lock the car

- Turn down and almost disable EGR

- One-touch indicators

to which I'll possibly add

- Maxidot language (?) "The display of text is possible in the following languages:

Czech, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese.

You can have the relevant language set by a specialist garage."

- Airbag deactivation (?) "There is the technical means installed within your vehicle to switch off the front passenger airbag or side airbag (take out of commission). This is why you should have the deactivation of the airbags carried out by a specialist garage."

**- Alarm blip makes a double bleep when the car is unlocked**

**- activate/deactivate cruise control**

The PAS setting sounds really interesting! If more cars had that then the world would be a better place. Does anyone know what setting is standard and how to change it

Getting VRS next week and steering felt good to me, but always like it heavier than most.

Sam.

Check out HERE to avoid cluttering this thread...

As I've just pointed out in another thread enabling the alarm "blip" on arming/disarming the system is contrary to EU vehicle construction and use directives and so has been "illegal" for a number of years now.

whys that?

whys that?

oh dear, mine bleeps when you lock it!

whys that?

Something to do with sound pollution I assume. On the one hand look at how many people's cars bleep when the button is pressed. A whole lot more do than the numbers of people with illegal tints, washer jet lights, blue bulbs, and so on. On the other, think would it annoy my neighbours if it beeped at 3am? Chances are probably no more than shutting your doors, starting the engine and driving off.

I seriously doubt that if you enabled the beep feature you have done anything illegal or made your car illegal (unless someone can show me a case of someone being charged or made to turn the beeps off).

thats what i was thinking. I dont actually think the bleep is loud enough to wake someone up. And also its a good security deterant if someone was watching you thinking about breaking into car etc. If you get me? It seems a silly thing if it was actually illegal

I'm afraid to say it is technically illegal. Refer to The Motor Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 2000 where this was first enacted in the UK. This enables application of the EEC Directive 95/56/EC.

It is rarely enforced (or even known about) but this first came to my attention last year when I purchased a new Triumph motorcycle. This had a factory fitted alarm (supplied by a well respected company called DATATOOL) that beeped when it counted down to when the alarm was to armed when the key was taken out of the ignition. I got a pull from a police motorcyclist who was parked up next to me at Hastings seafront one day - he told me it was illegal but only gave me a verbal warning. I couldn't believe it so contacted DATATOOL who confirmed that plod was correct and that it was illegal, and that this is covered specifically by their user manual - when I read it carefully they were correct.

I also understand that if we harmonise with the EU on the 2 year MOT test malarkey this might become an MOT failure as it technically contravenes Construction & Use Regulations.

Its intended to cut down noise pollution (especially at night).
