16inch to 17 inch Wheels Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Im thinking of changing my standard alloys 16s for a set of 17s do they fit straight on or are any mods needed to the arches? I/E will there be enough clearance for turning the front wheels etc.... :)

If you use lower profile tyres with the 17s then they apparently fit fine.

Someone who knows will be along soon to tell you the tyre sizes

You will need a 17" wheel with a PCD of 5 x 100. The offset on my wheels are ET 33iirc (Audi TT wheels). Tyres are 205/40 17 to keep rolling radius etc the same.

They can look a bit odd on 17's though if not lowered.

Thanx for the advice Ross I will be looking round for some 17" wheels once shops back open... :) Have you lowered your vRS more than the standard car then? ;)

ps just wondered also what polish you use as your car gleams?

and my car being  the same colour as yours....

Car is lowered approx 30mm on Eibach vRS springs, quite a popular choice on here, check out the reviews section on the top menu bar.

My car has been Supaguarded which seals the paint from nasties, after that its usually a quick wash over and every now and again a quick polish with some aftercare that you get in the Supaguard kit.

Hi again Ross..

is supaguard a Skoda dealer item or can you apply yourself?

thanx again Maria!!!!!

Most dealers of any kind will do it, but it costs around

One thing to bear in mind.... i had 17" on mine.. and have taken them off as they upset the handling, and most weigh considerably more than the OE items which had a very noticeable effect on general performance.

Altho 40 profile tyres give slightly less sidewall flex, (and highlight how soft the standard suspension is) it doesnt have the same natural poise as it does on 16" rims... ive got a eibach suspension setup on mine and its very neutral handling.. will drift rather than understeer, and still has good ride quality
