Newbie fitting aftermarket Stereo needs advise!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have just bought a Fabia VRS 2004, its virtually my first car!

I have bought an aftermarket stereo to replace the standard stereo (single deck), Facia plate, ISO adapter, removal keys, aerial adaptor,

and a "Bluetooth to RCA" device, in order to pick up music from iphone without a cable.

1) Would any one kindly confirm if these are everything that I needed? Otherwise are they just simply plug and play?

2) Do I have to disconnect the battery when I am installing these? If so anything I have to look out?

3) The "Bluetooth to RCA" device, needs a 12v accessory source, and a earth. How easy can I find them?

4) Any other advises are appreciated, I ridden motorbikes for years but I am completely new to cars!

Many thanks!

1) You may need a "ISO" adapter for your Fabia (I did for my Octavia) you can get these from Halfords.

2)Its best to disconnect, better safe then sorry :p

3) Should be able to use same 12V source and earth from the headunit.

Thx Tommy,

I have actually bought the ISO adpator, it comes in the facia set, if i am right?

Would you explain more of how to use the 12v source and earth from the head unit?

Np bud, well you can use the 12v and earth wires that connect into the back of the headunit or the ISO adapter by shoving the wires into the back of the black plastic block so they touch the metal connectors (if that makes sense lol) this is how I've done it in the past (for amp wiring).

Hope this helps :)

Thanks!

The "12v and earth wires connect into the back headunit" are they one of those from the bunch of wires?

If so how can i tell which are the ones?

Are they colour coded?

Yep their the ones you could even wire it into the ISO adapter and then fit it all in at once , the 12v will be Red and the earth should be Black I think but normally there should be sone kind of sticker or something on the actual headunit that tells you the wire colours :thumbsup.

iPhones don't have the bluetooth settings to stream music wirelessly, they only have the bluetooth to connect to a handsfree car kit iirc.
