Belt Change

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me when I need to change the belts on my 2007 VRS TDi?

Cheers

If I remember correctly the dealer say 4yrs or 40,000 miles.

But we say 4yrs or 60K - we find that 40K is just way too soon to have the timing belt changed.

As for the AUX belt, there is no recommendation - just as and when it is getting are worn.

Thanks Mike...so at 63k I'm well due then?

The BMN 170 PD is actually 80k or 95k for the timing belt or four years depending on build date.

Best give Skoda a bell with your chassis number and they will be able to check on Elsa, or I can next week.

Some more info for you there!!

I remember seeing some letters going around from various dealers saying to change the belt at 40K which is just too low - I got one for when I owned my Ibiza!!!

The later PD engines are all now 80k+ for the cambelt, however they do state the tensioner doesnt need to be changed until the second belt change, however I always do a kit, they are a good price and its peace of mind.

Mine is a 2007 plate TDi PD, is it worth doing now?

It sounds like youll be hitting the four year 80k interval sometime soon? Leave it until then id say.

My 2003 Fabia 1.9 SDI had a cambelt change at 80,000 in 2006 and has now covered 211,000 miles. So that's 141,000 on the current belt. My driving is mainly motorway at a steady speed and currently covering 1000 miles per week. As the car is worth very little now I intend to experiment to see just how long the belt will last. Will keep you posted.
