Scraping sound from front N/S

Featured Replies

Car has developed as what can be described best a scraping sound. It seems to happen when turning either way, speeds not sure as the tyre noise covers it up. It is most noticeable at car park speeds.

As far as I can see there is nothing visually wrong but I have yet to get it on the ramp. Not sure if there is any connection but the noise appeared after a quick drive in the country side with some crests. The front wheels only loss traction over the crest (ASR cuts power) but was touching the ground at all times.

Any ideas? I'm not really keen on taking it back to the dealer yet as that would mean time off road.

had the same problem with my one, found the problem was the sound deadening in the front wheel arch had folded over near the bottom of the arch, have a look in when you have full lock on.

I had a look but that didn't seem to be the problem. I have left it for the dealer as it is going in to get the filler cap fixed.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

Still not resolved. The techs can hear the noise but can't see anything obvious. They are going to investigate again next time when it is in for the filler cap. The noise is getting louder though.

best thing to take the mechanic for a drive and point out the noise, that way he will hear what you are hearing.

They can hear the noise!

They can hear the noise!

Stone trapped in the calliper. Cost me £50 at the dealers after I tried to find it myself and convinced myself it was not a stone

They did have to remove the calliper to find it. I now own a nicely polished £50 piece of gravel.
