Eibach springs

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference between eibach pro kit springs and eibach competition springs is?

Reason I ask is I excitedly bought a set of eibach lowering springs I saw advertised second hand a while back, I asked the seller for part numbers from the springs which matched up with that stated for the eibach pro kit on their website minus 2 letters at the start of the number I think.

They were advertised as eibach competition lowering springs, I assumed these were the pro kit but have since found out the competition springs are a lot cheaper to buy new.

Any advice greatfully received!

Kirk

Hi Kirk,

Pro Kit is a direct replacement kit for the car that has been proven and tested :)

Comp springs are a little more custom - for example you can pick the total lengh - diameter and spring rate - these would be for custom applications, for example if you have fitted a V8 lump in the front... or back for that matter.

Thanks mike,

That will teach me for being tight! They were advertised as for a fabia vrs soni can only assume they were custom made to the previous owners specific requirements. I have no idea how much they would lower the car by as I didn't ask thinking it was a standard 25mm drop. With no way of contacting the previous owner I think I will cut my losses with these then!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Chances are that he just got the Eibach Rates and then asked for the comp springs and got the same kind of drop/feel?! But saying that there might of been a reason for it.

I have heard a few people get the comp springs for Fabia rally cars... But you would hope the guy you got them from was nice and clear about the sale?!

Might be all OK but you just won't know until you fit them! :(

To be fair it quite clearly said eibach competition springs, however I didn't see past eibach before picking up the phone! Only paid £40 and they look almost new.. The old saying ' if something seems to good to be true, it probably is' comes to mind!

i'd be realllllyy tempted to get them fitted to the car - they could be the best thing youve done!?!

for 40 notes, you may as well just see what they are like....?

If I had the tools and the know how I'd be outside in the rain fitting them now as you are right, they may be perfect. However I have neither and can't help but think if I pay a garage £100 to fit them only to find they are no good I'm £140 down, plus will have to pay to put my standard ones back on.

I am very tempted though!

Imo you should just get a friend who has the tools, put it on and have a drive. Otherwise.. sell it on... :D

You could take one spring off each the front and back of the car and stand them on a level surface, alongside the new Eibachs. That will give you an idea of how much lower they are. Not very accurate I know as the stiffness may differ between the springs and will only come to light with the weight of the car on them. Don't pay for them to be changed, find a freind with spring compressors to help you.

As mentioned above - for 40 notes! Could be the bargin of the day... or even week!!

I am sure a member on here might be local to you and offer to pop em on there for a couple of beers or what not?!

If you take the springs off to check the heights you might as well stick em on as its all off!

The rears are EXTREMELY easy to do - two bolts and a couple of jacks :D
