vRS Turbo

Featured Replies

Ive spoken to a few differant people about wether the Octavia vRS came with the k03 or k03s. ive looked at the link in the '4x4' threas and that says all vRS's came with the k03s, but somebody else has said that they all came wih the k03.

I have been told that the way to check is that the k03s is silenced and the k03 isnt.

Is this true?

And does anybody have and deffinate answers and not just internet rumours?

Thanks

Ryan

They definitely all came with the k03s

definately k03s, had to recondition mine thats what it was.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the facelift (and DBW engines) were the 'S' variant. Having said that, a few years ago Ffelan got a letter from the manufacturer stating that there was no such thing as a K03S!

if its a vrs its a ko3s, all uk vrs cars came with 180 bhp, (india had 150bhp models) a recent discussion about the ko3s and 4x4s did indeed raise the question did 4x4s have the ko3 or ko3s however this is not a question on the vrs model

Thanks for the info.

It was a user of another forum that said that the vRS came with the k03

I think the confusion arises because the manufacturers Khunle Kopp and Kausch and their parent company BorgWarner do not call it a "K03S".

I think the name "K03S" has just come about through VAG owners. There was a post where someone wrote to BW enquiring about it and as far as BW are concerned the turbo is still a K03 but with a modified compressor inlet and exhaust outlet.

Thanks alot.

What kind of power is the standard turbo good for then? Before you have to start looking at hybrid/ k04?

There have been a very small number of VRS's (perhaps half a dozen) belonging to Briskoda members getting 235-240bhp on the standard turbo and that is with prett y much every bolt on mod done and £1000's spent which could have been spent on a K04, K03S hybrid or some other turbo.
