Greetings Octavia Owners

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I've decided to my my first Skoda, namely the Octavia. Shame there isn't something a little smaller, but the Fabia has too limited an engine range for my personal taste (no offence intended). I'm definitely going for an estate and DSG, and need bluetooth preparation.

I was planning on the 1.8TSi Elegance, but am just slightly concerned at the stories I've heard about economy. My annual mieage will be sub 10,000 though and I've no plans to tow. I'm planning to buy new and keep for at least five years.

Any recommendations? Dealer / broker recommendations also welcome.

Thanks for your advice.

Buy one a year old and save yourself a packet. If you're dead set on new and live in the UK, have a look at drivethedeal.com, should get a good price from there.

If you're not doing >15000 miles a year, diesel probably doesn't work out so that leaves the 1.8 as your best choice.

Bear in mind there are lots of options for bluetooth other than the factory fit. The Parrot MKi9200 will probably be better for sound quality (it has noise cancelling microphones) and allows you to connect external music sources such as iPod, iPhone or just a USB stick, and at £150 it's good value.

Good luck.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Thanks for the info Bill, the Superb does indeed look a fine car. The Octavia itself is bigger than I need, so the Superb is well over and above the requirement I'm afraid :) If I had a few more £K...

Thanks for the info, I'll have a gander at the classifieds. I think the VAT free offer is making the nearly new option redundant at the moment though, the ex demonstrator 1.4TSI DSG I drove was dearer than a new 1.8 DSG!!

1.8TSi and DSG is a fantastic combination. You'll enjoy it very much!
