I have had a rubbing noise for a wee while now.well since i got the car and for some reason i put up with it.. so decided to get under and see whats what..

FFS drivers side anti roll bar link is all wrong it has a passangers side one fitted the the ARB is mega stressed(theirs why it dont feel good at speed!!!) but this is proper rubbing on my pancake pipe, couldnt see if its split or not but i am thinking theirs my power loss problem, have new bushes and links for it so gonna fit tomorrow and inspect the pipe! if its goosed how much for a new one where part numbers? or should i just get a THS one ?cheaper?

I will get pics of the said fork up from the garage i bought the car from . who is DEREK BLAIR CAR SALES IN DUNFERMLINE!

Really i should have checked it out.. for some reason i am fixing everyone elses cars and not my own!

check the ths one fits with our cars as they may be for golfs and leons with the different arb mount/droplink setup

Hi There, funny as i replaced my pancake pipe last weekend for a aftermarket one, shipped from US as cheaper to buy.

Similar to this one.

I have a spare standard one now......

I will be doing a fitment guide but very easy to replace,

Also when replacing the drop links makes sure you fit them correct sided and also with longer bolt to the strut as this can hit the pancake pipe if upside down.

Hi Luca buddy,

This was the actual one i purchased

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290456574461&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Which is identical.

I have not driven the car much as have a sprained ligament on my knee(don't ask) :giggle:

What i have noticed is a smoother slightly better power delivery, now it maybe just me but also the sound of the car is different, hard to explain but more induction growl. Maybe the ABD K&N fell off.....

Why i have no idea :wonder:

Going to get it mapped soon as since last REVO 2 mapping i have fitted decat.

Also may replace my IK20 denso plugs for VK20's that i used in my old scooby.

No Clearance issues as yet.

Only cost me £50 including shippig from USA

hi Mark, sorry to hear you are in the wars!

whilst i was playing around with my uprated smic i had been thinking about doing something with the pipe, will add it to my ebay watch list

will prob do the tip pipe at the same time, would make sense.

I know it sounds odd, my friend and i were talking (i bought my vrs off him) he was saying he really missed it and to make matters worse he sees an awesome one at work all the time that he really likes and that reminds him all the time, he sent me a couple of pics............and i am 99.99999% certain its your car!!!

You are famous matey B)

Oooh shiny

I'm sure someone fitted one of these a couple of years ago and had problems with it catching the wheel on full lock but I think it was a much wider diameter than this one.

superb..added to my watch list also:)

I remember neuspeed used to do a replacement pancake pipe years ago but i think they stopped making it.IIRC you have to be careful as it will catch on full lock due to it's larger diameter.

Hi Luca yep knee is just getting better now, drove to Paultons park with the family and the car was really smooth, kept getting told off by SHMBO to slow down. :giggle:

I work in Xyratex Havant so if he works there probably is mine. There quite a few VRS's in the car park, all standard though so mine would stick out a wee bit.

I have done a few mods lately only simple ones not performance related, will post up later today.

I have got 225/40/18" on et35 offset and no rubbing on full lock as yet

Also checked it today and no signs of rubbing

Update to this guys,

Forget the none rubbing issues it does rub. I will get some pics up. The pipe is almost trashed with a hole about to go right through it.

It was not from wheel rubbing (that was ok) It was from the FARB Drop link bolt that goes through the ARB. As my car is quite low the clearance even between the standard pancake pipe is close but on this pipe is was hitting.

I am sure that on other motors that are not as low as mine would be fine with clearance. I was considering knocking in the area that was touching but can't be bothered and refitted the std one back on. Strange as it feels less urgent(could be in my mind) :(

Alright Mark, funny you say that, my stock pipe has a gouge mark from the droplink bolt in it too, think it was when i had the car really low, i wonder, do you recon the bolt length could be reduced? shame your pipe is screwed tho :'(

Hey buddy, funnny you say that it is funny, as i have indeed angle grinded off the excess bolt already some time back when i noticed the slight scrapping on the std pipe.

Although this fixed the scrapping for the std pipe I was still hitting the new pipe as it is thicker. I may decide to raise car now if i refit or get another performance pipe.

So yes go for grinding off exces bolt to fix that issue on your motor. .

Mark, just to add, you might find that the car feels a lot nicer and grippier when you lift it.

I lifted mine coz it was too choppy and the roads around bristol at the time were crap, now in cardiff there is speed humps along the road to get out so needed lifting a tad more and OMG it is so much nicer.

shame about that pipe tho, might think about gettin one on mine, need to go through the pipes on the hot side of the turbo just to see if I have any leaks. Is there a better pipe from the end of the metal pipe to the pancake pipe? all my others are sili ones except that one.
