Big Power = More torque

Featured Replies

I'm looking at modifying my fabia vrs with a VNT 6 or 7 turbo from allard's plus exhaust remap big clutch big injectors etc , how ever looking at the differences in power to torque differ very much, i'm looking for maxium torque, my set figure is around 450 475nm ish, i've had plenty of mrk 1 golf g60's and golf rallyes but always prefered torque over accleration, but with high torque is accelration as quick ? those who have high powered fabias your feed back would be cool

thanks

more torque = more pull

higher bhp = better top end

(roughly ;))

But more bhp has to play apart with the anount of torque, some people on here have 170bhp yet a torque figure 330nm, would hitting 270bhp hiy my torque target, or is it in the mapping

haven't modified diesels before, whole new scene for me

HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252

FWIW, my car's peak torque is 450Nm off nothing more than a custom remap, but its max power is only 170bhp due to the torque tailing off above 3500rpm (and no, my standard clutch DOESN'T slip!)

I like Caroll Shelby's quote: 'Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races'!

thats the quote i was trying to remember :thumbup:

Hi mate,

As above the torque is pulling power, the cranking power :)

We can offer the hybrid turbo, exhaust, intercooler, mapping, clutch etc etc the full conversion really and these can pull 230bhp and anywhere between 360-400lb/ft (488-540nm)

I used to own quite a highly modded Ibiza FR and I know a lot of people with hybrids etc.

If you want to have a chat about it and some prices to go along give me a quick shout mate - 0161 776 0777 Option 1 :)

So in the words of the common people, massive torque is gained through a decent remap, as the bhp of the engine makes the engine rev faster to the red line?

If you have massive torque little bhp the engine will pull very low down?

If i mangned 270bhp and 475nm of torque it should be quite a fun motor to have?

at 270 with 475 it'll be like firing a bag of sugar out of a cannon :rofl:

the next trick will be getting the power down on the black stuff ;)

Ok thanks for that, will give a ring soon, whats the highest bhp and torque figure people have seen on a VRS,

the products i was looking at was Allards in Gloster, near to my house. But will keep you in mind for parts and performance.

pm devonutopia mate ;) he's the "mad professor" in a good way though :rofl:

Torque low down is pants

My peak torque used to be at 1800rpm so when it reached that it used to spin the wheels! Now my peak torque is at 3800rpm!! Acceleration is smoother and car is quicker so i can put the power down

The torque your on about would just be a massive spike at the start of the map. The longer you can hold the torque and the higher the peak in the rev range the better

My 330lb-ft / 450Nm torque is at 3000rpm...

when you mean hold the torque for longer, is that programable on a remap to when and where the power starts and finishes.

Holding tourque for longer gives you a higher bhp over a longer range.

Ultimatley it is bhp that is goint to give you the acceleration, the more the better,

In theory therefore you want high tourque at low revs which will drops off linearly giving you maximu horsepower across the rev range, This is as I understand how electric cars will work, however is outside the realms of combustion engines.

If you reached 270bhp I think you would be nearer 590nm.........although someone will come along and correct me shortly if I'm wrong (which I'm not! :giggle: )

It should be around 450lb/ft @ 300bhp. So I think at 270hp you're looking at about 400lb/ft. I think this is the level I am at at the moment, but hoping for final mapping soon :)

I've got 400lb/ft at 250bhp and Warwick has 435lb/ft at 270bhp

You can specify what torque you want and bhp. The torque and bhp can be adjusted independantly, i went for around 330lbft and 230bhp
