Tyre Pressure Monitor

Featured Replies

Why isn't the TPM option available on the Octavia Scout?

I always thought it was a conflict with the 4x4 system, but it is available on the Yeti which has an identical drive train.

You would think that tyre pressure monitoring would be extra useful on an offroad oriented car...

Any ideas?

....or an off road button (which again is a button and software)

Especially given that the only real difference between the two is that the Octy Scout has a real boot and the Yeti has reduced overhangs..... :p

As you can get the TPM's on the 4x4 Octavia (I have them on mine) and the 4x4 system is the same I can't see why not.

Just checked Skoda's wesbite and they show as on option for the Scout on the website, but are marked as not available for the Scout in the brochure. Probably just a mistake in the brochure. I seem to remember them being fitted to the Scout as standard in the past, so maybe the brochure referers to an out of date specification.

As for the Off Road button, the Yeti is a newer model, has never features. I guess the Mk3 Octavia Scout will get the Off Road button, but it missed the Face Lift.

Would a TPM really work when off road though (assuming it's rocky)?

I assume it would worth if available on the Yeti (and 4x4?). It's down to the filtering and processing of the ABS sensor inputs. If the inputs from the four wheels are unstable, as they would be on loose or slippery ground, then no warning, if the inputs show the wheels are all rotating at the same rate within a tolerance then no warning, if one wheel is rotating faster than the other reference wheels for a defined period - BONG.

And so ends my job application as a software developer for Bosch...
