Was looking at coilovers and wondering what people thought were the best kit for the fabia.

Which are the best for day to day ride quality?

Which are best for track use?

Which are best value for money whilst still giving good performance?

There are a few kits that I couldn't list as 20 is the max for the poll, but I think I got all the main kits listed.

You can vote three times, one for each of the questions I have asked. Opinions would be good from people of their experiences to date

Money no obeject bilstein or kw v3

Best of both worlds kw v1's in stainless

I have had KW V2's, FK Highsport and V-Maxx on Fabias's. The KW's are good, but too much money for just road use, he FK were hideous and so hard thet i popped 20 odd tyres off rims (granted they were 205's stretched on an 8" rim), and the V maxx were a very good ride for what i paid for them.

I currently have a set of Apex ones on the shelf, which we could do a good deal on, but these have standard 2.25" coilover springs on them, not progressive springs like the KW and VMaxx ones.

If i were looking at road car coilovers, i would really want progressive springs and would not be too fussed about adjustable damping etc, but if the car was to be used for track use too, it would require adjustable damping. For pure track use, I would use straight 2.25" coilover springs as you want a firmer ride and progressive springs are not so good in this situation, hence why all race cars use the other type of spring.

Also, consider spring rates etc, on the Apex ones and FK style ones, it is easy to change spring rates as the springs are available off the shelf in varying lengths, spring rates etc for about £15-20 per spring.

Just my opinions anyway!, hope it helps a bit

Alex

Yeah i've had vmaxx too not too bad. Got a bit more bounce to them than the kw's.

You have to use shorter links with vmaxx also! Kw uses standard links

didn't vote but got a set of H&R coilovers to go on the Ibiza

I have some Eibach coilovers. They are pretty good, but getting on a bit now, so I'll be upgrading at some point. My mate has some KW's, I love them when I drive his car. They feel so much more stiffer than mine, much more planted in the twistys. However, that's not to say mine are poor, because they do the job, and I'm not far behind him, but they are getting old.

Matt

If I were doing it and it had to be coilovers - AP or Weitec.

The KW/Bilstein options are just too costly for general day-to-day use IMO.

Steve

I have run a lot of coilovers in the last 10 years spanning about 20 different cars. Best i have ever run for fast road/track use are kw by a country mile, kw v3 all the way, thats what are going on my golf anyway

Looking at the poll results, AP are in the lead. Only Wardy has mentioned them though?

So far it seems nailed on that Billstein (£1255 approx) or KW v3's (1225 approx) are the ones for track use.

It seems like Vmaxx with droplinks (£400 approx) or KW1's (£485 approx) for daily road use at the moment? Does this show Vmaxx as value for money or would KW's be better for the extra £85?

What about quality and ride of the AP's as no one has given their opinion on them even though they are leading the poll?

I voted bilstein, I havent used them personally but I know quite a few people who have and they have said there excellent although a little pricey !

Kw by a country mile!!!!!!

There not on the list to vote for but I drove a V6 4Motion the other day fitted with Koni coilovers, I was very impressed and I'm going to save my pennies for some of them for the VRS.

Never had coilovers but I have been informed that kw/weitec use the same spring rates across all their coilover range. It's only the dampers that are different. So to me kw must be pretty happy with the spring frequency. Wonder if they use the same for AP.
