Any ideas why my interior light might not switch off when I set to the left position (the one that should only illuminate when you open a door) ?

Its finding an earth contact somewhere I guess.

On mine the door position is to the right. It is the mode that is visible when the switch is in position so when mine is to the right, the picture revealed from underneath the left section of the switch shows a door.

I don't know why, but I intuitively thought that sliding it 'over' the picture meant that was the active mode?
