Fabia FL anti-hijack locking

Featured Replies

Hi

Took delivery of a Fabia 1.6 CR Tdi Elegance FL(105) for my wife today. Liking it a lot although lots of new 'stuff' to get used to - maxidot for example. Asked the dealer to activate auto-locking of the car when driving above a set speed - that's working OK.

Owners handbook suggests that when the key is removed after switching engine off the doors should auto unlock but ours don't - you can get out of the car but the rear doors remain locked. :(

Seems odd that you have to use the switch in front of the gear lever each time you want to open the doors from outside - e.g. to get the grandchildren out!!! :dull:

Wrong coding OR mistake in handbook.

If it's the same as the Octavia, it's just a maxidot setting that needs adjusting.

Thanks john999boy.

'fraid the Fabia's maxidot isn't as sophisticated as Octavia one!! I've discovered (ah! The power of search!!) that my 'problem' is probably caused by the dealers adaption of the Central Convenience channels. They've probably enabled auto lock (channel 03) BUT haven't enabled auto-unlock (channel 04).

So need to visit dealer OR find someone with VCDS who can help me.

Thanks anyway for the suggestion - much appreciated.

Have been in touch with dealer and they confirm that auto-unlock had not been enabled..!! I've to take it in next week to have the necessary changes made so all should then be well.

Pity the maxidot in the FL Fabia won't let you make the same range of changes that you can with the Octavia (maybe the excuse I need to buy VCDS and cable....??). Other than this 'wee' issue the new car is really rather good. Very 'grown up' compared to our Mk.1 vRS and much more refined although throttle response and acceleration is dull in comparison and the pressure required to depress the accelerator pedal is much greater in the new car. Seeing the 2 cars side by side - the difference in height is VERY obvious....!!! Returning 59 m.p.g. in mixed driving at this early stage. Generally happy with our purchase.
