How Do?

Featured Replies

How do, and happy new year to all.

As a newby, my name is Ian, and I drive an Octavia 4x4, having been a Subaru fan since the earliest imports. The skoda impresses me in 4x4 guise.

Now for the test another -How Do, or more precisely, a Where Is. How Do you find the drivers door interior light switch ? Little plastic fingers that you can push to turn off the light, I can understand, but I'm stumped with my Octy.

hello and Welcome,

no idea about the light switch,i'm sure someone will have the answer for you.

Another Ian with a 4x4.. eek getting common! :D

Welcome on board!

The switch for the interior lights is the peg at the rear corner (bottom) that presses into a rubber seated button.

Welcome to Briskoda Ian.

Two 4x4 drivers called Ian - could this be a plan for world domination?:D

Thanks for the reply. I expect I will meet the othe Ian in time - He isn't Sane, Is he? I did look at the peg, but had visions of setting off the side air bags if I meddled - it looks awfully "sturdy" for something like interior lights!

Welcome Ian, good to see another 4X4 on here!

Going back to the light switch question.... correct me if im wrong people... but the peg on the door which goes into the rubber hole/gromit isn't your conventional type of switch but an electromagnetic one which activates a small micro inside the rubber gromit/hole.

In other words... you can't operate it yourself which is why i presume you were asking in the first place?!

IIRC the switch is acutally in the door catch, if you open the door, flick the catch over with a screw driver or the like the light will go out.

The peg in the bottom is there purely for crash protection, it stops the door deforming in an accident.

A big welcome from another proud 4X4 owner. Is yours an Estate or Hatchback? :wavey:

Well you learn a new thing everyday, been believing that peg was the switch on all me octys! so i used my electrical knowledge to work out how it worked... and in a sentence im wrong... DOH!

Thanks to all, I am learning, and I think it shows the value of a forum. Two heads are better than one, and many heads - well, work it out for yourself. Yes, a 4x4, but then I live at an altitude of 1,000ft by the Lake district.

Yes, another Ian, and I will be working on world domination just as soon as I have worked out the Icons, and the spiffy graphics _ I feel naked without them!

All part of the friendly Skoda Master tech service.

And dont worry it wont be long before I fall on my **** and I wont be able to show my face around these parts again :)
