looking for Skoda VRS tips on buying

Featured Replies

Hello People of Skoda land

I'm looking at buying a Skoda Octavia VRS tdi hatchback. Just woundering what are the key pionts to be looking for when buying a used one. Was considering buying a new one but the price is just a little bit out of my budget. Do like them though.

Could anyone out there give me a few pionters please.

many thanks

Rich

Make sure spec is right 18 " WHEELS, JUMBO BOX , dual climate , electric rear windows, six cd changer, or AUX LEAD FOR I POD. CAMBELT CHANGE AT 4 YEARS. nothing MUCH GOES WRONG APART FROM the pressure switch on abs <teeves 60> which is fitted to all vag cars of a certain age might fail after 3 years. get an aftermarket warranty ,or if you buy from a dealer make sure this included. Petrol the one to go for ,although I am biased . Had mine 4 years , love it . Oh and welcome!!

A pointer for you, make sure it's race blue :giggle:

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda, yep make sure it's a race blue octy!

The Tdi engine has changed from PD to CR in the last 3 years giving a smoother and quiter delivery of power.

I always buy diesel. The petrol, whilst being faster on paper, does not feel it and naturally uses more fuel than the diesel.

BTW everyone has a blue one!! ;)

Cheers You Skoda People

Going to go look at one over the wkend. VRS in blue with jumbo box 18" wheels, toe bar , xeons, maxidot, dual- ac..20000 miles on clock.

Just a little worried about the ABS failer that i've read about. Can anyone high-light the situation as regards this and is there any key things on the unit to look for, ie part numbers / dates???

Cheers agian

Welcome Kid, Best to ask this question in the Octavia 2 forum. Your spelling has improved since your first post so keep it up, otherwise not bad for someone upgrading to a Skoda :giggle:

The diesel flatters to decieve with dsg as it is always changing down a gear when accelerating, so you put your foot on the gas and nothing and then it accelerates, by which time I am long gone! If it has a Teeves pressure sensor it will fail

Hi People

I've gone and done it. Brought myself a Blue VRS tdi on a 08 plate. Has the full works. Exon lights Maxi-dot, cruise control, rain sensitive wippers and light sensitive lights. Blinds for the rear and parking sensors front and rear , jumbo box kit with 18" wheels. Nice car. Bit much than i wanted to pay  but they seem to be holding price, and theres not a lot out there with a top spec.

So i'm in the club..... :o

Cheers Rich

nice one mate, looking forward to seeing the piccies.
