Featured Replies

When people said it took alot of effort to put on.. I simply said.. meh, how hard can it be....... :dull:

I shall take their word for it and NOT follow through next time.... :|

Anyway here's my efforts.. I had to do it in 4 sections!! :swear::wall:

Not completely happy with the centre bits but that's enough playing around today..

Im undecided if I want to lacquer it up, has anyone else used lacquer on it?

I plan to do the wing mirrors with the remaining bits if I have enough, if not possibly b pillars and that funky exhaust someone else done earlier on here.

Alternatives/Suggestions/Comments?

looks good. i did my grille and then one wing mirror the other day (only had time for one) im not completely happy with it but o well, its hard on some bits especially going round where the mirror connects to the car. im thinking b pillars may be a good plan too :)

looks good i like it

Foglight surrounds maybe?

Might be an even bigger pain in the ar5e to do though!

Looks really good, now I really want to do it! I would get some lacqeur it up. Will look better all shiney and will protect it after all that effort.

How much carbon did you buy?

How well does that stuff stand up to stone chips?! Does look very good!

Thanks guys,

No idea about stone chips, hence I was thinking lacquering it up.. Unfortunately I've seen no-one lacquering it up on here so I don't know if its any good.. :S

Personally if I had another choice I wouldn't do it again.. lol too much effort..

Make me one pretty pleeeeeeeeeease  :p

My grille has been on for about 5k over 7 months. No laquer...

So far its 100% unmarked... Even followed a gritter for a couple of miles back during the snow :o

Thought it would be shredded when I got home... But after rinsing off the salt it was totally

unblemished. I can see why it's so dear, it's a quality product.

Good work on the splitter... Dunno how well the vinyl will hold up against speed hump abrasion

Looks good mate.

fantastic. Great job

Piece a p!ss

Normally... I hate the splitters...

Normally... I hate carbon wrap....

This though?.. I thin kit looks great! Top Marks and a gold star!

I think I like it because splitters are a piece of car that can actually be made of carbon fibre.. so this makes sense..

Thanks, do you have a pic of the wing mirror? Unsure if it'll look good or little too much. Im going for the subtle look.

Completely agree with that comment.

I've put it on the car tonight (didnt realise sun goes down so quickly now! was working in the dark :| ) will post pics up tomorrow.

how hard is this stuff to apply? im guessing thats not one sheet just lots and lots of different sections? do you have to try and match the direction of the pattern etc? sounds like hard work lol

Where can i pick up an lcr splitter and are they easy to fit?

Cheers,

J

you can pick them up from a seat dealer, if you go back to the page with all of the posts, scroll up there will be a "pinned" post, called "popular seat parts" or something to that effect, you'll find it and many other parts there with part number and price. give your local seat dealer and phone and should be able to get one in :) dont go by those prices as they may have changed slightly by now. not sure how hard to fit, have seen how tos on it, give the forum a search and have a look, didn look too hard from what i could see :)

Just to give you an idea how tough this film is last weekend I pulled into a car park with a grass/gravel bank in front of me and hit the ground with my splitter :'( . On checking the damage the splitter had acted like a snowplough and had dug up the earth. The splitter had popped a few screws and was covered in muck. On my return home after washing and refixing the splitter into place there was not a scratch or cut on the carbon film !!

This stuff is really tough !

with regards to laquering...

when i done my gear lever surround at first i tried some laquer over the top hoping to get a more authentic look but instead it ruined it and it just looked black. so if you want to try laquering it, best to laquer a small square of the film to see the finish before ruining any work you have done.

Update:

Not completely happy with the fitting either.. does anyone else have a gap on the couple of pics shown on their splitter? Its ok from normal eye view I suppose but once you get down and have a look theres a gap........

Looking Good

The gap is normal, its not an exact fit for the fabia, what I did notice is that it seems to be a bit far forward, did you trim an inch off each end to shorten it ?

I cut about 2-3 inches off :giggle:

Im glad its not me being "special" putting on the splitter then..

Given up on the lacquering as I tested it on a small piece and it looked pants..!

Looks wicked IMO! Good work
