Auto wipers

Featured Replies

Sorry about all the questions at the moment but have a 09 damaged VRS and the airbag cracked the screen and it needs replacing.

First thing is the car aint being delivered until next week but trying to get as much sorted before i have it as i can, but unsure if it has auto wipers or not.

Is the rain sensor in the screen or is it on the wiper arm or elsewhere as i have a mate in auto windscreens and will be able to specify a screen with the sensors if i need it and if it can be setup/activated by VAGCOM?

I think that it is inside the rear view mirror housing facing the windscreen. Make sure that the repairers don't cover this area with adhesive as it could reduce the sensitivity.

Agreed, it is on the rear view mirror mount where it is attached to the windscreen, will be separate to the windscreen, any good windscreen replacement service will make sure it pushes up to the screen fine. If your car already has the auto wipers fitted then they shouldn't need recoding as the car will already know it has auto wipers fitted. It is just hte windscreen you are changing.

Thanks so if it didnt have auto wipers then is it possible to activate via VagCom?

If you added the sensor in the rear view mirror housing and added the wiring then, yes.

Blimey didnt think it would be that much work to fit and tbh dont mind the time and effort but thats way to expensive to fit for just the auto wipers!

Fingers crossed that mine has it already now.
