CHROME LIGHTSWITCH SURROUND

Featured Replies

I have just fitted a nice chrome lightswitch surround to my Fabia Greenline, to make the switch stand out a little more as it is quite reccessed and hard to see.

I got it from a seller on EBAY who sells all sorts of dial rings but they were unsure as to wether it would fit the Skoda range as it is listed for a VW Caddy.

Fabia is reccessed.

I have told the seller I am mentioning the ring on the forum as others may want one and they also will most likely fit other Skoda's with the same rotary lightswitch fitting.

Not sure if they will offer any discounts but they are worth the money anyway and the seller may have other interesting rings! (ooh-Err, Missus)!

The seller is called the-tuning-shop-team and have an online shop, www.tuning-shop.co.uk and can even provide a fitting instuction video, via youtube.

I am going to try sending them a picture of the ring, fitted, so they can advertise it specially for the Fabia. It DOES look like it should have been there to start with!!!!

thank you for the the the erm post..thread...the tip

i look forward to your picture, might tempt me.

I am trying to get one sorted for the seller as the caddy one he has does not do the ring justice. It IS very subtle, bit like the chrome ring around the steering wheel centre cap and it does look like it belongs there. If you look at the sellers ad for a VW Transporter, same switch and ring. It looks a neater fit on the Fabia as it is in a reccess on the dash.

BTW, they come in at around £7.50, posted!

Hi, I have just revisited the sellers site but they are away untill the 11th and have nothing on disply until then!

If you do an ebay search, typing in... vw caddy 2003+ lights switch ...and then click advanced search, and then completed listings, you will see 2 they have sold. Mine was the top one, though they are identical listings. Please note the use of the words lights switch and not lightswitch!

the item appears deeper than it is as the Caddy has a black ring between the dash and the switch, giving the appearance in a not too good shot, of being the side of the ring, with quite a deep profile. It is just a thin chrome looking ring that you get and it looks similar to the chrome ring around the steering wheel logo.

Believe me, it looks a lot better on the Fabia and in real life!

i have got my daughter to photograph it on her mobile and am waiting for her to upload it to the sellers address when they get back.

I MAY be able to get her to send it to someone here, if they give me their mobile number.. they may then upload it to the forum for me and it may be quicker!

They can always delete the number after getting the piccie!

I am now wanting to find out if they do a ring for the mirror adjusting switch!

They don't seem to have the Caddy listed, does the light switch surround for the Transporter look the same? If so may order that. Let us know how you get on with the mirror control surround as with the new climate control and radio having chrome outlines it would really suit the car. Just need to try and get some chrome interior handles.

My old fabia (55reg) had chrome handles and I prefer them. looks much better than feels better then the cheap plastic. let me know the part numbers if you find out, thanks

I am fairly sure the surround is the same size on both the Transporter AND the Caddy, PLUS many other VW derived vehicles that use this type if rotary dial switch. (Old 190 merc's, too).

It is my guess that any Skoda with the circular switch will be able to fit the ring as it just slides in between the dial and the dash, with slight rolling of the outer lip, to fit nice and snugly. (Details are included with sale)! :

do you have a link to the ebay page please?

Can you load a piccy of the climate controls and stereo dial? Mine have no chrome accent, just black dials. (50 plate) I was thinking about some sort of upgrade here!

I have seen some Skoda logo's that seem about the right size but may be a bit OTT for all three dials, perhaps just the stereo knob! ANY opinions on that? ? ?

The mirror one was from a different place and fairly pricey in comparison, due to shipping mostly. May work out more economical if ordered in bulk or at least a few! :wonder:

Think i will order the surround and see how it goes. The facelift models have the chrome on the climate and radio hopefully this link will work:

Think that the chrome surround will look really good. Have you managed to get a chrome surround for the mirror stalk as well? In terms of the door handles hoping that someone like milotec will start doing stick on chrome covers think that the black on black door cards on the facelift could do with breaking up a bit.

nice little touch, thanks for the link.

speaking of chrome surrounds I have just replaced my gear knob and the gear lever surround with a chrome one

chromegearsurround.jpg

for anyone interested in replacing their standard black or silver/grey surround, it's the same as fitted to the fl fabia elegance and is a direct replacement

I have the greenline, which has alloy coloured door handles, gear knob and surround, plus the air vent surrounds, too. My climate control knobs and (Dance) stereo knob MAY be a little smaller than the ones with the chrome accent... Not too sure! I am sure the seller will list the ring for a Fabia soon, he was delighted with the feedback and the picture. I just have had a problem trying to upload it to the thread as I am a bit rubbish at that sort of thing! :'(

They may possibly be slightly different size wise, don't worry about the pics will try and get one posted when my car arrives. It is waiting at the docks in Germany to be shipped  :D

I had a look and the link works, it just came out with the picture turned onto its side, for some reason but, hey, your neck CAN bend :giggle:
