How do I switch on drl on a new octavia with maxidot

Featured Replies

I have followed the instructions in the manual, but no luck.

Looked through maxidot, and again can't find it.

I have an l&k.

Deals seemed to think it was in maxidot.

Thanks

It is in Maxidot under 'Lights & Vision' in the setup menu. Page 25/26 of owners manual.

Thats what I thought, but the only options I have are@-

Coming Home

Leavingh Home

Comf Indic

Travel Mode (no referecne in the manual)

There is nothing about DRL.

I cannot find any reference to it in the manual.

There are definately two bulbs in the front fogs.

At what point should I see them on. Is it just when I am driving, or is it with the ignition on and stationary?

I have just done a quick search, and it appears that the DRL may not have been switched on by the dealer, so, I have no control over it.

still interested what the other option is.

The daylight running lights are seperate LEDs on the vRS and come on with the ignition. Not sure about the L&K

The Travel Mode refers to the Tourist light function on page 54. It allows you to set the xenons for driving abroad.

Find somebody with VAG Com, I think you will find this is the only way they can be switched on, especially for an L & K...... ;)

It will probably be easier for me to go back to the dealer and do it, wont it?

Your dealer (or someone with Vagcom) needs to first enable them.

Doing this then allows you to see the option on Maxidot.

From here you can turn them on and off as you wish

I think you will find the dealer will make a charge, unlike the Vrs the L & K does not have them enabled at the factory, so I would have thought that the dealer would not be obliged to carry out the work..........

As I said, find somebody with VAG Com, I would do it for you but seems you are not that close........

How long have you had the car? If its only a few months ask the supplying dealer to do it for free.

It wasn't until a few months after I collected mine I decided I wanted the 'one press to unlock', 'auto lock over 15mph', 'twin rear fogs' and 'cornering front fogs' activating.

As I'd spent over £14,000 they were happy to oblige.

Its a good test of dealer customer service in my eyes...

I got exactly the same with my L&K, bought an VCDS and activated all on my own. The dealer was just useless!!

About 10 hours, AND I mentioned it to him when unpicked up the car.

I doubt they will charge, and if they try they will have a rather angry customer.

I have been though this DRL saga since getting my new Elegance in May this year. It has the dedicated front DRL lamps and Maxidot but as detailed earlier in this thread, no menu in Maxidot for switching them on. It is so obviously a software select item but it has taken me quite a lot of dialogue with the supplying Dealer before getting to the stage where this week the car goes in to have them activated. I sense Skoda have been deliberately dragging their heels on this preferring DRL to be a marketing feature on vRS and upmarket versions of Yeti and Superb, but as it is approaching 2011 when these things will be a legal requirement and not just a fashion accessory they have been preparing current production for DRL. So, fingers crossed it will happen and I won't be presented with excuses as to why it is not possible. (A kind member of this Forum has offered to help with VCDS which is another way of sorting this).

Exactly right

Citroen and Renault actually offer the LED DRL's as £150 optional extra's at the moment on their sporty models - simply an opportunity to make some extra cash.

Infact I believe on the FL Octavia Scout you can now opt to have the front fogs replaced with LED DRL's as a factory fit option.

I'm not sure what will happen when DRL's become law next year - will that mean all Scouts will no longer have any front fogs? Who knows.

Just confirmed with the dealer that they can do it. He said it will take about 15 minutes, so I am taking the car in on Wednesday afternoon.

So far covered 160 miles, but looking forwards to a nice long run tomorrow, london to cardiff and back.

Well, here's the follow up. Went to the Dealer today and in about 20 mins hey presto DRL activated. No charge either. So, if you've got the hardware (e.g. latest Elegance with the dedicated lamps at the front of the car) then the software is definitely available from Skoda to activate them.

I took my car into the dealer and asked if they could enable the DRLs and Cornering Fog lamps.

After nearly an hour of the technicians all crowding around the computer they came back and said it wasn't possible to do on the Octavia.

I pointed out the page in the manual but was told that Skoda were notorious for not getting the manual right.

I've got an MY11 L & K.

Typical!!

Went into the dealers today and 20 minutes later it was done. He even td me that there was an option to have the xenons set as the drl but I thought this could get expensive (replacing bulbs quicker) and also annoying as they are quite bright!

I asked about the cornering lights and he said that it had nothing to do with the drl. I hope he is right.

Cornering lights use the front fogs not the DRL's...

DRL's on my Elegance but not working so went to dealer today and within 5 minutes they were working. Activation/decativation not by Maxidot but using the indicator stalk as per brochure. Turn ignition on but do not start car - pull indicator stalk towards you and downwards- whilst holding there start car and they are on. Decativate same but pull stalk towards you and upwards before starting car.

I've just tried this in my car (spec in sig), doesn't seem to work, I assume I don't have the correct lights fitted to my car? I do not have auto-lights, and the fogs just look normal, i.e. two bulbs, no LEDs.

If you have two bulbs on either side as pictured then you have DRL's.

If the process using the indicator stalk does not work then they need enabling by your dealer first.

I even put a LED bulb on my DRL
