Tyre ratings on vRS

Featured Replies

Hi, I know the vRS is meant to have 205/50/17 tyres when on standard 17" spyders, but what load rating and speed rating are required.

Only asking cos the tyres i'm after in that size come in many variations

Got 93W XL on mine.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

just wondering what the factory recommended fit is

just remembered to check the service manual I have:

it say load rating - 89, speed rating - w

not sure why i need 168mph rated tyres on a 146mph max car?

why bother having speed ratings if you don't apply them to the performance of the car?

Probably because the next rating down is 'V' which is only good for 149mph & that doesn't leave enough of a safety margin.

but they are supposedly safe to 149mph so why have the rating if not?

I know what you are saying but fail to see the point of the speed ratings if people then just jump up a level

On my vRS, the originals were dunlop sp sport 3000a's. 89 V rated!
