Dash cleaning

Featured Replies

An almost 9 month owner of Octavia VRS was wondering what other use to clean their dashboard. There are a lot of products on the market from mat finish to a shiny finish. I do not want a shiny finish but would like the dash to look nice. Once the bad spray or wet wipes get on it, it's difficult to undo the damage.

A lot products available in Halfords but refrained from buying anything.

A damp MF cloth is all I ever use/need

I use a homemade distillled water spray mixed with around 10% IPA alcohol, applied using a clean MF cloth.

Cleans light marks well, evaporates quickly, and doesn't leave any residue or films on the surface. Looks like new on a 52 plate car.

Works really well on glass and mirrors too!

I asked the same question to the dealer, and I've been using what they recommended:

Armor All Orange Cleaning Wipes

Spray on deionized water then wipe off with a microfibre cloth. Worked on my past few cars.

Me too, my dash gets dusty not dirty so a damp cloth is all that is ever required!

autoglym vinyl and rubber care, applied sparingly. Doesn't make it look shiny or tacky, just like new. it also has an anti-static element so helps to repel dust.

Clean with APC and then wipe over with Poorboys Natural Look Dressing. (live at home)

I dust mine off with a microfibre wash mit.

Seconded. Great stuff for exterior rubbers too.

Mine gets cleaned by the dealer every time it gets serviced.

Shouldn't need anything more than a dust with an MF cloth really, as other have said.

If I thought it was required, a damp cloth with a very diluted solution of Meg's APC would be used

Steve

Mr.Muscle window cleaner and an MF cloth.

I normally use a MF Mitt with a touch of dashcleaner from simoniz (on the use up)

Cant be doin with shiny dashes so it leaves a matt finish

+1

Its cracking stuff,

Dry MF cloth dusting is all I mine's ever needed to look as new. My parents carry 4 dogs in their Berlingo and the textured plastics in that got quite bad - easily sorted with a bit of APC.

If the dashboard is dusty, first wipe it down with a dusting cloth or non-woven disposable dusting cloths, such as those made by Spontex. Use a small, dry natural-bristle pastry brush to dust hard-to-reach areas. Mis one part all-purpose cleaner with 8 parts water in a spraq bottle, then spray and wipe with a clean cloth. If there are any scrratches on the clear plastic lenseson your dash, mask them by rubbing on baby oil or WD-40. To prevent cracking and fading William F1 make a suitable silicone-free protectant.

Depends really, if it's just dusty a damp MF, if the whole car is getting a clean then the plastics in the car get a very light treatment of poorboys natural look dressing.

Thanks to all. I think I am going to go with poorboys natural look dressing. It seems to have excellent reviews (and a stunning smell-whatever that means).

Blue Pledge & Microfiber cloth.

hood choice, I've been using it for a while. Apt it then buff it off with a mf cloth

Vacuum cleaner, Tesco's unscented baby wipes (good for your leather seats too as they have moisturizer in them) or a damp cloth........
