Clutch intermittantly wont dis-engage

Featured Replies

I've noticed in traffic, that the clutch sometimes does dis-engage.

Its sometimes not easy to get it into gear, and i'm guessing this is why..

Even with foot right down on the floor it's like that.

Any ideas ?

It's a Helix clutch/smf thats in it.

Normal!

its one of the charms of a SMF

just double clutch it!!

also depends on what revs you change at too....

short shifting 1st to 2nd when rolling isn't advised i take it up the revs a bit before changing

Both my car's with SMF's have done it, and this one i even put a new release bearing it - still does it

Like has just been said it will always do it due to smf.

If you ride the clutch it will probably do it, and more often than not if you are in crawling start stop traffic it will do it. It was originally described to me as the clutch plate 'glazing' over and then sticking to the flywheel.

If it won't come out of gear when clutch fully depressed, don't force it. Keep the clutch depressed and blip the accelerator and it should pop loose. It just becomes part of your normal driving routine in that you learn how to keep it to a minimum as you get used to the car. It still happens to me every so often, but nowhere near as much as the first few weeks when I was getting used to it!!! :giggle:

edit: if you are finding it wont go into gear (normally 1st?) every now and then, with clutch depressed just quickly slip it in and out of 3rd and it should then go straight into 1st.
