Idle Revs High

Featured Replies

Odd one i have noticed sometimes

On my 2.0 CR sometimes when i come to a stop in traffic etc. the idle speed stays up at 1000 rpm and if i blip the accel pedal it drops back to normal 700 odd RPM

could it be the dpf regen?

noticed mine doing this today when pulled up at work. left it a few mins and the revs dropped so i presue its the DPF doing some house cleaning

Mine does the same it is the DPF just doing some cleaning, it also makes the car drive lumpy, i normaly just take the car for a quick blast and usual sorts it out

noticed that too. Put cruise control on and it seemed to surge. kept dipping clutch and revs sat at 1000rpm instead of 700 ish

all cleaned now and going like a train...again

Very likely to be the DPF regen.

If you are stopped, you will also probably notice that the engine cooling fan will be running. The DPF regen injects extra fuel to increase the exhaust temperature to burn off the 'soot' in the DPF, hence the the engine cooling fan running.

my car also does this what is the dpf??? and how do i fix it

DPF is the Diesel Particle Filter, it catches the soot you would normally associate with diesel engines and then every so often it burns it off when burning it off this is the Regen (regenerate the filter) which cleans it out

its a way of bringing down the emissions of the engine, it can be removed there are threads on doing it

So Quick update, last while since i started this thread i thought the car was doing a lot of regens, so today 20 mins after being on the motorway for about 45 mins and having driven 30 miles to work earlier this morning, the DPF light and the glowplug start flashing and the car in limp mode, no warning straight to limp

so called skoda assist (the AA here in Ireland) and the guy came out read the fault code P047 something and another about dpf, (left the codes in the car), tried to reset it but stayed in limp mode

So car towed to dealer and will see what happens tomorrow but it looks like the exaust pressure sensor *fingers crossed* it cant possibly be the DPF as i do 60 mile round trip a day on A roads or motorway depending on my mood in the morning :giggle: plus going to meetings etc.

its an 09 with 24k on it
