Pic request - front ashtray...

Featured Replies

Need some help if someone doesn't mind, basically when I picked my VRS up the ashtray flap was broken so I've fixed that but the whole ashtray assembly doesn't seem to work properly.

Is it possible someone could take me a coupe of pics of how the ashtry looks with the flap open and shut, just trying to sort all the niggly bits on my car lol.

The lid has a plastic arm on the l/hand side with a little bobble in it and the bobble fits into a guide channel in a moving arm inside the ashtray surround to allow the "one touch" pop-up / pop-down and if this little bobble has snapped off you won't be able to close the ashtray lid. I had to drill a hole in mine and replace the bobble with a bit of wire. Fairly fiddly repair but it works:

I'm liking the ash tray mod. Very nice and subtle.

Thanks for all the pics and help.

I've now removed my ashtray assembly and I think I can see why its limp and non moving lol.

I seem to be missing the spring and what the spring goes on to.

Not too sure how to fix this or whether I'm better off getting a new assembly.

Right I'm getting there slowly lol, I've had a rummage in the centre console and I've found the spring and the pin.

The only problem I'm having at the moment is getting the spring to stay put on the pin.

Any ideas on how to keep it in place??

Totally off topic sorry but DanBoy did you own a Blue Vectra with Lexmaul front and snowflakes?

Yup lol see my hmm not good thread ;)

hate to break the bad news, mine wouldnt stay in place, wound once was not enough to fully open the tray mechanism, wound twice was impossible to get to stay fitted to the slotted inner piece and once let go would spring off, i ended up fitting a spare one i had. Its fiddly as f*ck

You have should have one unless 2002 is about the time the Mk1 had a refit of sorts. It carries on up the centre console to the button area below the centre vents.
