SUPERB MK2 OR FABIA ?

Featured Replies

Hi lads and lasses,I have a superb mk 2 12months old but I am thinking of downsizing to the fabia elegance 1.6 cr tdi,I am however not sure as the superb is just smooth as silk on the A roads,I am however quite rural I find the superb although long OK to manouvere, the wife however can find it difficult so the question to you fabia owners how are you liking the fabia especially the elegance.

too much body roll on standard suspension

it will feel small for you in comparison

better turning circle

good ground clearence (the scout has the same suspension as a standard fabia, that's how high it is, high enough that they can make a softroader without increasing ride height)

why not go for an octavia, a good compromise and better quality

Hi thanx for that the dealer did say that the roll in the corner would be stark compared to the superb,so I am really re-thinking weather to change the superb.

you can always go for the optional 'sport' springs lowers car by 15mm and fit a rear anti roll bar, or get some aftermarket lowering springs like Eibach.

also, the seats will feel small and uncomfortable in comparison after a long journey. there is a lack of lumbar support.

Why not look at a 2wd Yeti, had mine (4x4) over in Northern Wales a couple of times recently and found it to be perfect for all roads encountered. Size wise it's very similar to a Golf so just that bit longer than a Fabia II hatch and shorter than the Combi but with a lot more elbow room and the view out is really good.

good option the yeti, it's actuially the same wheel base as an octavia but with smaller overhang

I'll second (or third) the above re the Yeti. I was looking at the regular hatchbacks but the Yeti is not much longer and gives a big car feel. Really good to drive too. Try one.........

I will take your Superb in exchange for my Fabia :giggle:

Of course it will feel cheaper and less luxurious, however it will feel more fun and interesting to drive

We have both cars - Superb is far more luxurios and a LOT faster than it looks in the TDi 170 spec, Fabia is much bigger than it looks for the outside but it not as comfortable as the Superb, nimbler and feels nippier but if you want a big car with all the toys have the Superb, if you want a smaller car with typical (but hgih quality) supermini options get the Fabia!

For you coming from a Superb I'd look at a Yeti or Octavia before the Fabia.

yes I agrree that it would be better going from the superb down to the octavia or yeti, the difference in the octavia is not a lot really just a little shorter the wife hates the yeti, but I am looking long term here the fuel economy and the tax issue the fabia elegance 1.6 cr tdi 105bhp is only £20 per annum were as the superb and octi is in excess of £125 saving over £100 per annum, the fabia mpg is 67 I guess neither the superb or octavia will get this,in the car its only me and the missus now kids have grown up so dont need the space in the back, and we only puddle about the area maybe 6k miles a year,so I think both the superb and octavia are to big for us now,the superb I have is absolutly brilliant can not fault it at all,I should have never bought the superb as i am now dreading the move down and loosing the comfort and grandure of the superb or shall I keep it bugger the saving on tax and fuel!!!!!!

You have already lost a lot of money on the Octavia so why lose it again on a new Fabia. Keep the Octavia.

If you have a weak/bad back I would not recommend driving a fabia for long distances

I agree with others - you'll lose a lot of money by changing a Superb at only 12 months old. The Superb is a great car but the only big cars that hold their value well are Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

Why not get shot of your 03 Fiat and buy whatever secondhand Fabia you can afford, and use that for running around, keeping the Superb for best and hanging on to it for several years. Incicentally, a petrol is a better bargain than a diesel if you do a low annual mileage,

money isnt an issue, but practicality is the superb is 2 big for the missus has problem parking it,I will loose about 2.5k on the superb but thats ok the vat off the fabia and extras will compensate the stilo is for sale but this was a cat c repair so garage will not take in,just about to go to the dealer to order the cr tdi 105 wish me luck as this is going to be painfull
